Larkin Responds to Lawal Steroid Test, Calls Result

Strikeforce light heavyweight Lorenz Larkin has responded to Tuesday’s announcement by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that his Jan. 7 opponent, Muhammed Lawal, failed a post-fight drug screen.

“It is disappointing to hear of this news since this is now the second opponent in a row that has tested positive after fighting me,” Larkin stated in a release issued by his Team Monsoon. “I respect Mo and wish him the best. If he says that he didn’t take anything then I will take his word for it and it’s up to him and his team to prove otherwise. At this point, it’s up to the Nevada State Athletic Commission how they will deal with this situation.”

The NSAC has not yet made an official ruling regarding Lawal’s positive test for the anabolic steroid drostanolone, which both the fighter and his management Tuesday denied any knowledge of.

You just knew when Muhammed Lawal failed a drug test for anabolic steroids, someone would seek out his arch nemesis, Quinton Jackson, to get his opinion.

Sure enough, Karyn Bryant took up the cause and got this quote from "Rampage:"

"He talk a big game, he say all this stuff, he's calling people bums and everything and it's just karma. Look at him. He's a very cocky individual. I feel like any fighter that has to use steroids to go in a cage and fight somebody is not a true fighter. Some people have problems, like okay, go to the doctor and get it sorted out. There are some fighters out there who are of age and they're doing the right things to stay healthy and stay competitive but somebody blatantly taking anabolic steroids to get in the cage, it's a sad case. It's a sad case."

Dennis Hallman on Inside MMA I thought did a good job explaining to Bas the importance of steroids/hormones.

Bas also condones taking heavy amounts of opiates.

Bas says that "if you take steroids for an injury it is cool. If you have low testosterone, that's cool."

He also says that if you do it....don't get caught.

Bas has also said on Rogan's podcast that "Roids are for faggots" He sees it as a weakness and insecurity.

PED's and TRT/HRT are two different things.

Bas loves morphine as a pain medication.

Of course PEDs and TRT are different things. I will follow that obvious statement with an obvious statement of my own.

People can use TRT as a PED.

Hallman uses TRT. But he has also been caught with roids in his system too. I believe he said in an interview that he used the roids to help speed his healing process.

The reason I made the statement was that you cited Hallman's exchange with Bas.

Hallman's eyes were practically watering and the exchange had everything to do with Hallman's intestinal issues. He did not appreciate Bas's sweeping statement about steroids and pled his own case.

He also contended and Bas slightly agreed that, if overseen and prescribed by a doctor, steroids should be legally used to help with recovery from serious injury. That's why I quoted Bas as saying:

In order for Hallman to fight....he had to heal. So, is that using steroids to fight?

You also repeated Bas' blanket statement that you apparently don't agree with:

It is easy to tell kids, don't do steroids, but then to give them steroids to fix strep throat or their asthma.

Steroids are good, abusing them and using them as a performance enhancer isn't good...especially if you plan on pissing in a cup and possibly giving a blood sample.
