Default UFC 143 adds Facebook stream with Stittgen vs. Thompson, Natal vs. Kuiper

UFC 143 adds Facebook stream with Stittgen vs. Thompson, Natal vs. Kuiper | MMAjunkie.com

Quote:
After this past weekend's surprising UFC on FOX 2 "dark match," UFC officials have ensured fans will not miss a single bout at this week's UFC 143 event.

UFC officials recently announced that UFC 143's preliminary bouts of Dan Stittgen vs. Stephen Thompson and Rafael Natal vs. Michael Kuiper will stream via Facebook.

The Facebook stream now complements the evening's pay-per-view and FX broadcasts.

Featuring an interim welterweight title fight between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit UFC 143 takes place Feb. 4 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Dutchman Kuiper (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) makes his debut with an unblemished resume and three consecutive first-round wins by TKO or KO on the international circuit. However, a look at his resume shows that he has yet to meet an opponent with significant high-level experience.

Natal (13-3-1 MMA, 1-1-1 UFC) most recently outpointed "The Ultimate Fighter 7" castoff and recent UFC cut Paul Bradley at UFC 133, which reversed a disappointing draw to Jesse Bongfeldt at UFC 124. "Sapo" came out on the losing end in his octagon debut when Rich Attonito outpointed him at "UFC Fight Night 22: Marquardt vs. Palhares."

Stittgen (7-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who trains alongside Clay Guida at Midwest Training Center in Schaumburg, Ill., brings a three-fight win streak in regional competition to the octagon. His sole career setback is, interestingly, against Edwards, who submitted him a year ago. Although Stittgen recently went to the scorecards for the first time in his career, seven of his eight fights have ended in the first round with five of his wins coming by way of submission.

According to the website of his MMA team, Pitch Black, South Carolina resident Thompson (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is a decorated amateur kickboxer who also trains with jiu-jitsu ace Carlos Machado. His undefeated ledger boasts three stoppage wins in regional competition, though his two most recent fights went the distance.

To access the preliminary card stream, viewers must visit the UFC's official Facebook profile (UFC: Ultimate Fighting Championship | Facebook) and push the "Like" button for the page.

This past weekend's UFC on FOX 2 event featured one un-aired matchup as Chris Camozzi defeated Dustin Jacoby. The bout marked the first UFC fight in more than one year that was not broadcast in some form.

With the announcement, the UFC 143 lineup now includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

* Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz (for interim welterweight title)
* Roy Nelson vs. Fabricio Werdum
* Josh Koscheck vs. Mike Pierce
* Renan Barao vs. Scott Jorgensen
* Ed Herman vs. Clifford Starks

PRELIMINARY CARD (FX)

* Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier
* Henry Martinez vs. Matt Riddle
* Alex Caceres vs. Edwin Figueroa
* Matt Brown vs. Chris Cope

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

* Dan Stittgen vs. Stephen Thompson
* Rafael Natal vs. Michael Kuiper

Besides the main event (which is SICK), this has to be the weaker card of the year so far

Some real potential for sure, but Im not overly excited for any of them

Don't mean to whine and complain haha, just curious as to what everyone else thinks

* Renan Barao vs. Scott Jorgensen
* Ed Herman vs. Clifford Starks
* Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier
