Thankfully G.G. has reevaluated things and returned to his roots, so to speak.
Maia needs to do the same thing. Yeah, continue growing your standup, but don't forget your bread and butter; and learn to throw the right a little more.

I can't really think of too many top level strikers who transition and actually have success in mma. The only thing i recall is the hunt vs fedor fight where hunt got on top and decided to stay on the floor and grapple rather than stand back up.. he actually did pretty well from the top though. Ohh and hmc did the same thing except faired a lot worse on top lol.

[QUOTE=Goremire;899647]It's weird how you sometimes see really, really good grapplers fall in love with standup (usually to their detriment) but you hardly ever see it happening the other way around.

This is the equivalent of Chuck Liddell going into a fight and saying "I believed I could sub him so I avoided striking." What on earth gave Demian the impression that he could knock Weidman out.

Glad that everyone is in agreement here. Could someone imagine alistar Overeem pulling guard on someone because he felt he could submit then? That would be retarded

What Damian said reminds me of what Jorge Gugel does i love that guy but i get so frustrated watching him try to strike with guys who are leaps and bounds better than he is in the striking dept.

Gurgel is a guy who you always hear has tremendous BJJ, but you never actually see his tremendous BJJ.

I was more entertained guessing which guy was going to pass out first, a KO never crossed my mind. Guess these guys need to do some running, biking and swimming with Diaz. Well, and I assume smoking.
