| Joey Beltran released by UFC Joey Beltran released by UFC Quote:
Joey Beltran has been released by the UFC.
The release was notified to Fighters Only directly by Beltran himself. While sad to see his current tenure on the roster come to an end, he says he understands the decision to cut him following his loss to debutant Lavar Johnson on Saturday night.
“I am truly grateful for all the opportunities that I have received from the UFC/Zuffa. I am not sad or hurt by their decision as I know that winning is the name of the game,” he told us.
“Posting a 1-4 record my last 5 fights is unacceptable regardless of how entertaining the fights were. So this is the next chapter of my career, and one that I am excited for. You will definitely see my ugly face again so fans don't worry and haters keep on hating.”
Beltran does not know what his next move will be but he has apparently already had some interest from other promotions which value his fighting style and his tendency to get involved in wars.

I think it's really retarded when ZUFFA lets go of guy's who always bring it exspecially after they just get KO'd it's like insult to injury. Though he was never going to be anything you could tell he was one fight away from 205 and the Mexicutioner would make an excellent addition to any card period. So what if the guy were to lose 10 in a row? as long as he aint being put out like in his last fight every fight the fuckin guy puts fans in seats he's what casual fan's pay to see and that's what the UFC needs right now in this Fox transition.

go fight a few elsewhere try some different stuff if need be. Win and come back stronger. He may even be able to get 2 fights under his belt a little pay in his pocket and be back in the same amout of time he would of been out any way.

Bad cut by the UFC IMO, Joey's a gamer who'll fight anytime, anywhere and anybody. He's a short-notice fighter and one who is always willing to provide exciting bouts, at the cost of maybe having a less than stellar record.
Beltran has never really possessed "UFC-caliber contender" status, for me, he reminded me quite like a King of the Cage champion, whereby he's better than 90 percent of the MMA field who aren't full-time or necessarily gifted fighters and can brawl like hell and rack up wins because he's tough as nails, but nonetheless, he isn't an elite-level fighter when thrown into the UFC cage.
Prediction for Joey is 2 options:
1) Joey will go on throughout the rest of 2012 KO-ing and brawling with a lot of "ex-UFC cut" talents as well as "past their prime" HW names like Buentello, Sylvia etc and gets an invite back into the UFC, because he always brings it.
or
2) Joey enters the Bellator HW tourney and makes some noise(against similar brawlers) and gets a good degree of notice and bangs his way to a title shot and once again, a call from the UFC.
He's a great gatekeeper, they shouldn't have cut him. I expect to see him back 100%.
