Anderson Silva: Chael Sonnen Needs to Train, Not Talk

Anderson Silva has some advice for his next opponent: Stop talking about me, and start training for me.

That opponent, Chael Sonnen, has hurled relentless trash talk in Silva's direction for years, and Silva has largely brushed it off. But with Silva and Sonnen set to square off this summer in Silva's native Brazil, Silva may have finally reached the point where he feels the need to talk back to Sonnen.

Silva told Ariel Helwani on Fuel TV's UFC Tonight that he believes Sonnen would be wise to keep his mouth shut and get to work on training.

"Chael talks too much," Silva said. "Chael needs to train. No more talk, train. Going to Brazil? Big problem."

Silva gave the interview in English, perhaps another sign that he's hoping to match Sonnen's talk before matching up with him inside the Octagon. But Silva also said that Sonnen isn't going to get under his skin.

"I don't care about Chael Sonnen," Silva said.

I love how Anderson's trash talk always has an authoritarian tone to it. Like he's talking down to a dog . . . He's plotting another Vitor-esque face kick. Sonnen needs to step his game up because that Bisping-performance would get him killed in Brazil.

....this is not a sign of anything. Silva has never incessantly talked trash leading up to a fight, its simply not his style.

Anderson talks some smack now and again. It just has a certain snobbishness to it, totally fitting of a champion of his stature. I'd be disappointed if he didn't look down on his opponents.

I am sure Vitor won't trade against me striking. No sane person would.

Really? I feel like due to his extremely high pitched voice, the opposite is true. Hearing him talk like a school-girl makes me giggle like one

Very unlikely. Chael will be well trained and well prepared but that won't definitely curb the envitable tidal wave of epic trash talk Sonnen is about to spew.

Guess you have to do what you have to do to hype up a match in which the challenger just lost to the champ a few fights back by tapping out while failing drug tests and, oh yea, the champ had crack ribs.

That would be the ultimate victory IMO. I mean, that would just be straight out HILARIOUS!!

But I would rather see Anderson come out strong and just beat Sonnen into submission. Sonnen needs a good old fashioned a** whipping! No submisson.

I totally agree. He wont be able to walk through the punches that Anderson throws. I think Anderson wins this fight inside 4 rounds
