| UFC President Dana White Sounds Off On Need For Judge and Ref Reform In MMA UFC President Dana White Sounds Off On Need For Judge and Ref Reform In MMA Quote:
I’ve said it many times, in the evolution of the sport right now, one of the big problems that we have is judging and ref’ing. It’s one of the things that drive me crazy.
Attention needs to be paid to scoring and ref’ing. First of all it affects guys careers as far as legacy’s go. Jon Jones should be undefeated right now but he’s not he has a loss on his record and there are tons of guys in the UFC that have those. There are guys that have absolutely, sincerely won fights but lost them on the judges’ scorecards.
Nobody is perfect, there is always going to be problems but the judging and the ref’ing is so bad in Mixed Martial Arts, it drives me crazy and the fans hate it too. These athletic commissions really need to tighten up and start educating their refs and judges.”
UFC president Dana White publicly addressed the problem with MMA judging and refereeing last night on FUEL TV.

Lol jones lost because of an illegal elbow so how is that a ref or judge problem? Rules are rules it's his own fault nobody else's.

Blah blah blah.... Dana White has stated this many times. How about Dana starts spending all his lobbying money on the athletic commissions instead lining the pockets of crusty, old, corrupt New York politicians.

I said this in another thread but when UFC comes to your town they give your commission a list of officials that they want on their card and the AC fills out the rest.
One name on that list that the UFC provides to your commission that they want is....
Cecil Peoples.

If I remember correctly, those werent even the shots that busted Hamil up; he was already getting beat into submission before the illegal elbows landed. Should have been a NC if not a win for Bones.

It was a DQ because Hamil could not continue and after a point is dedecuted and a fighter can not continue it has to be a DQ. Hamil might have been done but the fact is the fight was stopped right after the illegal move so the fight has to end as a DQ.

Cecil Peoples. | Probably because those commissions know nothing about MMA and only heard of Cecil Peoples. What they don't know is that Peoples isn't famous, Cecil is infamous.
Commissions aren't fans of the sport. They don't follow every bad decision, they don't follow the scores and why a judge scored a particular round one way. Only the guy at the top needs to know about the sport, ie Kizer, and the rest of the commission are mindless bureaucrats.
The one thing I agree with Cesar Gracie is that once you are a judge you are in there for life. These judges that are known to fuck up countless times are still employed and still working important bouts.
That's my view anyway.

Regardless if the commission knows the sport or not the UFC tells the AC that Cecil Peoples will be a judge. No one has a choice.
If commissions weren't fans of the sport they wouldn't allow it in the state. Ask a New Yorker about that one.
