| Nevada State Athletic Commission Confirms Positive Test at UFC 143 Nevada State Athletic Commission Confirms Positive Test at UFC 143 Quote:
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has confirmed that someone tested positive for a banned substance in drug testing at UFC 143. What has not yet been confirmed is who that someone was, or what that substance was.
In an e-mail to the media sent on Thursday, Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer acknowledged that there has been great sustained interest in knowing what the results of drug tests were at UFC 143, and he confirmed that someone tested positive. But he declined to elaborate further than that.
"Thank you for the many email and phone calls. I am still waiting for all the steroid and drug test results to come back. We did have at least one positive test. I will send out an email later today on that matter," Kizer said in his e-mail, in which the word "many" was bolded.
What is still unknown is what the test result was, what the consequences will be for the fighter who tested positive, and whether any appeals are forthcoming. | Nevada State Athletic Commission Confirms Positive Test at UFC 143 - MMA Fighting
Nick Diaz tests positive for marijuana metabolites, faces discipline following UFC 143 Quote:
Former Strikeforce champion Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his controversial five-round clash with former WEC titleholder Condit at this past weekend's UFC 143 event.
That's according to Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer, who today emailed the event's drug-testing results to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
Diaz was one of 18 fighters on the card tested for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse. The remaining tests received to date have thus far all been negative.
Diaz will ultimately have to appear before the NSAC to address the failed screen. Barring a successful appeal, the offense will serve as Diaz's second infraction under the commission's watch. Diaz also tested positive for marijuana following a 2007 win over Takanori Gomi at PRIDE 33. Diaz was suspended for six months for that offense, and the result of the bout was changed to a no-contest.

I am calling it now...
Nick Diaz gets popped for marijuana and then provides a California state medical marijuana prescription... Claims it was medical and the NASC is just out to get him.

I just read this on mmajunkie and had previously posted in another thread wondering why the rematch was nixed. Had a feeling this may be the cause. Not trying to say Diaz is the guilty party b/c no proof has come out yet. Just seems awful fishy to me.

| 'At least one positive' drug test arising from UFC 143 | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
In an interview Tuesday with MMAjunkie.com, Gracie anticipated Diaz would return after a layoff from the sport and wished Condit luck for his fight with St-Pierre.
The identity of the person behind the failed drug test won't be known, of course, until the release. But the timing of the announcement is certainly cause for speculation.

I'm sure it's Nick and that's why CG said "it will come out" when asked why Diaz Condit II was not taking place.

Diaz just pissed away a year that he is in the prime of his career.

Not that I think weed is a big deal, but I mean, it is banned, it just seems so so dumb to smoke it, you know it will come out
I find it annoying how Diaz claimed GSP was just afraid to fight him, and faked an injury to get out of the fight. If Diaz had beaten Condit, then this test would (allegedly) come back showing Diaz was dirty and got him suspended, thus ruining the fight between him and GSP
So, at that point we would have Diaz skipping pressers (in which he told there would be major consuquences if he had done so) and smoking weed knowing he would get popped and suspended for it, which would have resulted in Nick's actions getting the GSP fight scratched twice
Couldn't GSP just as easily have said Diaz was afraid to fight him?
Either way, this blows. I was nothing but excited when Diaz signed with the UFC, but ever since it has been nothing but a let down

All you Diaz nut huggers look even more like fools if Diaz is one who's dirty...AGAIN. Beautiful stuff people, just absolutely beautiful.
