With Diaz’s Positive Test, Carlos Condit Moving On

“It’s an unfortunate situation for Nick Diaz and his camp. We wish them the best of luck as he continues to move forward with his career,” Condit’s manager Malki Kawa from First Round Management told MMAWeekly.com on Thursday.

There was never an official confirmation that Condit vs. Diaz 2 was a done deal, but based on a series of messages from UFC President Dana White, everything appeared headed in that direction.

Now it looks like Condit will move on to face the next challenge and defense of his UFC interim welterweight title.

Kawa and Condit have been rumored to meet with UFC President Dana White on Friday to discuss the champion’s next move.

As of now, Condit’s next fight is undetermined, but Kawa and his fighter are looking forward to the next step no matter whom that opponent ends up being.

“As for Carlos and what’s next for his future, we’ll definitely discuss that with the UFC and Dana White in the coming days to figure out what his next steps are,” Kawa said.

So back to square one... Who does Condit face while we all wait for GSP to heal? Might be a bit clearer of picture after next weeks fights I guess.

That was kind of the idea, a civilized conversation about who would make the best next challenge to Condit... But as we can see that was ruined within 6 minutes.

Personally I am not interested at all in an Ellenberg/Sanchez match.
I think Carlos should wait until GSP recovers, otherwise, no matter who he faces, he will have nothing to win.

To stay on topic...it's obvious if Condit isn't going to wait to fight GSP then I would like to see him compete against EllenBerger or maybe Hendricks. Though, I think it would be wise for Carlos to wait for GSP at this point.

Just seems with the number of cards the UFC is putting on this year it would be hard to have the real WW belt and the intern WW belt tied up until the end of the year. What was the point in creating an intern belt if it is not defended for like 10 months. Is not the point of the belt to keep the division active and moving along.

I think if Jake wins, that fight makes sense, they could bill the rematch angle for promotion

I don't think Sanchez deserves a shot

Just because of the circumstances now, if Condit fights before GSP, whoever it is people will have room to question whether he deserves it or not. There aren't a lot of lengthy win streaks over top guys to choose from really

Lets go Kos vs Hendrixs and Jake vs Diego. Jake or Hendrix winning would be nice contenders for a intern title. Plus the winner of Alves vs. Kampmann should be in the mix.
