Eric Prindle has been forced to withdraw from his Bellator 61 main event with Thiago Santos due to illness, Sherdog.com confirmed with a source close to the bout on Thursday.

Prindle, 35, has come down with flu-like symptoms that will prevent him from competing; the extent of his ailment is currently unknown. MMAJunkie.com first reported the news Thursday morning. The bout is expected to be rescheduled for an event later in the season, though the promotion has not yet commented on the matter.

Prindle was set to meet Santos in a rematch of their Bellator 59 clash this past November, which ended in a no contest after Prindle suffereda kick to the groin and was unable to continue. The contest served as the Season 5 heavyweight tournament final, and -- when completed -- will determine the
next challenger for Bellator heavyweight king Cole Konrad.

Funny thing is, I've also heard alot of rumblings that Santos is a big way away from making the 265 cut, something is hinky in Bellator right now.

They talked about this on the mmashow podcast yesterday, Mauro said he heard Santos was weighing 300lbs on Wed night.

Pringle was on the show and said he could not talk about it and made it sound like something was wrong with Santos.

Bjorn was on next and said it was Pringle who was sick and instead of the commission cancelling the event they chose to delay it to next week. Bjorn said they could have waited it out and Pringle might have been better by today but if not the fight would be scrapped by the commission.

Very strange how Pringle implied it was an issue with Santos, which confirmed Mauro's suspicions, then Bjorn went completely the other way.
