Herring does have a lot of ring years on him. He took a particularly vicious beating at the hands of Fedor in their match; Fedor reduced Herring's face to a bloody pulp. A loss to CroCop followed and maybe Herring lost something inside after those fights...it remains to be seen. He did look out of shape in this fight. We'll see how he does in his next fight. He may come back amped up.

Herring was ok after those beatings, he had a good fight with Big Nog that was only a year after his fight with Cro Cop.

He lost to the best 3 HW's in the world, got sonned by Fedor but still managed to reverse him and gain top position and control Fedor at the end of the round but was not cleared to continue the fight for the second round and put on a good showing vs Big Nog. He defeated Igor, Kerr, Erikson and Goodridge but never faced the middle of the top 10.

Apparenly he tore an MCL 3 weeks prior to the fight and that was the reasoning for his stance as he was not going to be able to defend the shoot effectively. He will bounce back, I am not going to sleep on him or hurl him under the bus, that guy I saw fight last night was not Heath Herring.

Heath Herring was way over-hyped the whole way. Dana tried to throw him in under the cover of Cro Cop and Rampage, as another quality heavy weight contender.

Yeah becasue he IS another quality contender.

Was this the first fight you have seen of his?

Is anyone really shocked? I would say EVERYONE is REALLY shocked, did you not see the Vegas odds on Herring? The numbers were overwhelming, HYPE does not gain you huge spreads in Vegas, defeating huge HW names in MMA and having wars with the best HW's in the world does.

Salmon looked like he should be dropping more weight and fighting at 185.

It was obvious something was wrong with him thw other night, if you watch any of his fights, I don't care who it is he is usually much more aggressive. If this is the first fight of his you have seen you shouldn't pass judgement on the quality of fighter he is. Dana is not stupid, he wouldn't put money into hyping a can.

Herring was obviously hurt. I could sense something was wrong when he was walking to the ring so slowly, taking those measured deep breaths. He didn't look like himself. If anybody doubts Heath's ability, they must be a newbie, or have no idea that MMA exists outside of the Octagon.
