Default Jon Jones: Greg Jackson & I know eeeeverything about Rashad

Jon Jones: Greg Jackson & I know eeeeverything about Rashad

Quote:
Sergio Non: You've often said that Rashad's confidence is based on a single day in practice. How often did you get the better of him in training?

Jon Jones: I got the better of him a lot in training.

What Rashad has done, he took one day in 2010, just amplified it, making a whole base of people believing he's a way superior grappler than me...

Rashad held me down at a practice. Because he used all his might to keep me to the ground, he wasn't able to punch me or submit me. Holding me down does nothing to my cardio; does nothing to my face or nothing to my body. It's not damaging whatsoever.

But when I say about all the times I could have really landed devastating things to him, but I just stopped right before it actually hit him — that was me being a good teammate. This time I'll actually go through with those actions.

Yeah, 2010, I'll admit, he was definitely a little bit better than me. He was definitely in his prime. Maybe a little bit stronger of a grappler in 2010.

But I truly believe in my heart that he's slightly slowing down. I believe that I'm speeding up to the point where he's going to possibly be finished in this fight.

SN: During the time that you trained with Rashad, what did you learn from him as a fighter?

JJ: Honestly, I learned nothing from Rashad. Rashad didn't teach me anything...

We've honestly only really trained together maybe on 12 different occasions.

He actually came out in interviews and said he was so intrigued by my passion and just my enthusiasm about the sport. He learned from me more than I learned from him, I believe...

...He boxes and shoots a double-leg (takedown). That's it. He doesn't throw funky kicks or look for these interesting techniques that no one's done before. He's just very basic.

SN: Greg Jackson originally wanted to stay out of this fight, but he has decided to work with you, after all. How much of a difference does that make in your preparation?

JJ: ...Originally, Greg was going to coach me, work with me, but not actually corner me. Now that Greg has decided to work with me and corner me ... it's going to be gigantic.

I don't think Rashad actually realizes how much Greg knows about him ... He doesn't realize that he trained with Jackson-Winkeljohn for almost eight years, and these guys know everything about him.

We know what he does when he's going to flinch. We know which way his head is going to lean when he flinches. We know everything about him. We know his favorite guard passes...

We know eeeeverything about him. Everything. Absolutely everything. He's silly to just look over that and think that he knows me, when we know him.

SN: Rashad accuses you of presenting a false image to the world. How much do you change your image, depending on the particular audience at the moment?

JJ: I don't change my image at all. I believe that I'm a man with a lot of character. A lot of character.

I can talk to you about politics. I can talk to you about family. I can talk to you about religion. I can talk to you about warrior spirit and martial arts. I can sit here and joke with you and be extremely charismatic.

I'm a person with a lot of personality, a lot of character...

I can't stand Jon Jones, I don't believe anything the man says. It seems like he is trying to get in Rashad's head with this interview, saying that Jackson and him know everything about Rashad, but the difference when Rashad says that as opposed to Jones is that Rashad seems very confident, like he actually knows something no one else does.

Also, it's baloney that he didn't learn anything from Rashad. Jones may be the better fighter, but at least keep it real and tell it like it is - you both learned from each other, but you believe you're peaking as a fighter higher than Rashad could. Here's to hoping Jones loses and learns some honest humility.

I doubt that at the moment. Evans has looked like a completely different fighter since leaving Greg Jackson. He is more aggressive now and his ground game is about 100% more effective. Before Evans could never hold anyone down, now it seems like no one can get up after he takes them down.

At this point in their careers I think Evans is just too well rounded for Jones. Jones has never faced a guy that can do everything Evans can do and he will have trouble adapting. Evans via UD.

Yikes, that wasn't a good interview Mr. Jones, that one sounded like he was trying way too hard to downplay Rashads capabilities thus making him sound cocky as fuck. Is this actually Jones in the interview, fuck....

Yeah, its the opposite....Rashad trained there for 8 years so he knows everything they will teach jon jones. He knows that program so well....there is nothing that camp will come up with that rashad hasnt practiced with them before. Yes they have his mannerisms down, but that does not outweigh rashad getting training elsewhere to elevate his ground game. Rashad knows more about jones and his training than jones knows about rashad and his training....im still trying to figure out wtf a blackzillian is...

Iv always had the feeling that Greg found something better in Jones and pushed rashad aside, he knew the would most-likely happen.

To train a fighter to beat-down someone you helped build for years and years and had a personal relationship with is cold in my book.

Dont give Jackson too much credit. Jones could have lifted weights and trained wrestling with Randallman and Coleman at hammerhouse and he would still be a beast.

I like Rashad alot more than Jones. Rashad speaks his mind and lets people know who he really is as an individual.

Jones is a snake.

I will def be cheering for Rashad.

I can't really cheer for either of them, I just find them to be whiney brats in every damned interview. A friend just sent me interviews of both of them, but I couldn't even get through it...it made me realize I've never watched a full interview of either of them. I can barely skim articles that focus on interviews of them.

Which, in turn, made me realize I'm entirely ignorant of what the real driving force is behind the drama of this upcoming fight. As try as I might, I can't come up with a valid reason for either of them to be mad.

As I understand it, Evans left Jacksons because he was upset. But I have no real understanding of what he was upset about.

Did Jackson really "push him aside" as has been alluded to in this thread? How?

Was he mad that Jones got the title shot when he [Evans] was hurt? What did he expect to happen, and what would he have done if the situation was reversed?

Was he mad that Jackson didn't kick Jones out of the gym once Bones started showing promise?

Can someone really explain this to me?

Rashad said Greg asked him if he was Ok with letting Jones on the team, Rashad said he wasnt cool with it and explained why.(basically what happened) and greg told him not to worry it would never happen.
