anyway both are great organization, i just prefer Pride. | Co-sign, it just looks nice but it really just gets in the way and ya I agree both are good organizations but when it comes down to it do you watch MMA for the fights or the production?

I don't see why people like the ring. I think it looks stupid when fighters are poking their heads out the ropes. I prefer the "no escape" atmosphere of a cage. Even if it's not the Octagon itself, I'd prefer a cage of some kind. I guess you could argue the ring gives more leverage for escaping from takedowns, but it just looks awkward IMO.

Love both organizations for different reasons.
PRIDE-The ring seems more professional (the octagon is great too, but I like the ring better). The quality of fighters/fightcards, excluding PRIDE 31 (too one sided for me.) And don't forget about Fedor.
UFC-If the UFC keeps signing fighters, they could easily double the quality of fightvards they produce. Better commentators, except for the period when PRIDE had Quadross/Bas and Mauro/Bas. Trigg and the new guy are horrible.
That's why I like both organizations, though I tend to lean toward PRIDE most of the time.

anyway, this is just preference.

I prefer Pride over the UFC because of the quality of fighters, matchmaking, rules (knees to the head of a downed opponent, stomps and kicks to the head of a downed opponent, basically what ACTUALLY takes place in a given fight), ring and overwhelming presence felt by a 60,000+ seat sold out staduim topped with the fans being much more knowledgeable, therefore no booing of the ground game adn fans knowing what submission is open and when, the not booing of the feeling-out-process which takes place sometimes and the implementation of the YELLOW CARD, gotta love that.
UFC is a great promotion as well, I do not care for the cage as it is an open invitation for stalling fights and pinning someones head against the cage and crushing them as they are defenseless in that position and the allowance of stalling the ground game (lnp). However with the additions of Cro Cop and Rampage (which I would much rather see still in Pride fighting Fedor and rampage fighting Lil Nog), there will be some great matchups for Rampage at LHW, unfortunately I don't forsee anything challenging in Cro Cop's future in the UFC if their rosters remain the same (possibly Vera or Hardonk in a few years).

I like both organizations, but I lean towards pride I like the ring I think it's more professional and easier for new fans to accept as real sport, as opposed to the cage which I have no problem with, I just see it as a bit of a novelty, and drawing comparisons to WWE's Hell In a Cell, also I feel pride puts on better cards with better fighters. Although the tide is turning towards the UFC, with there new purchases of fighters/orgs, and ever since the december 06 card it seems like the ufc's cards are getting more and more impressive. I dont think the UFC can overtake Pride within a year, I mean Shockwave '06 was probably the best card of the year, if pride doesn't start asserting themselves they may be headed for the backseat. Also I really like prides tournaments, I think as long as they keep having there yearly GP, they will never go outta business. I think if worse comes to worse and with there boatloads of money UFC acquires most of the best fighters, maybe pride can revert to just holding there yearly GP, where all the greatest fighter in the world can compete against each other, to see who is truly the best.
