That is exactly my point. There are no ropes to interfere. Just like in a real fight.
Yes. | but MMA isnt street fighting

Most street fights take place in an open space, other than bar fights but even then, most bar fihgts are still taken outside where there are no obstacles in the way.

While you are right, it still doesn't invalidate my point.

But in real life fights, there are almost always walls around you. Each org is more realistic in some ways and less realistic in others.

Man oh man this is a tough one...
I love Pride for these reasons:
1) Fighters are better, more skilled and more agrressive to get it over with.
2) Judges are more knowledgable.
3) I like the clean production "White Ring" of Pride, it looks professional.
4) Soccer kicks and knees to the head rule...
5) Yellow Card
6) Grand Prix's RULE.
I hate about Pride:
1) Annoucers and Entrances...the WWE entrances and rolling of the "rrrrrr"'s is just annoying and I have to mute it.
2) Cross weight class fights and NO title fights for no reason
3) The Ring.. feels too much like a boxing match, the people holding onto the ring, getting reset...too many referees...too much interference in the match.
4) Intermissions...suck.
I love UFC:
1) I grew up with it, it started here and I have been a fan since 93.
2) Octagon is more of an EPIC gladiator setting IMO...no restarts..no interference every minute.
3) I love elbows and blood, it adds to the danger of engaging someone in their guard.
4) I love the no-nonsense approach of the UFC, it is very unlike WWE...which I like.
5) Televised FREE fights..
6) The future is bright for the UFC.
Thing I hate about UFC:
1) Judges and Scoring of ground game...they just don't know enough and LnP happens too oftern
2) The stadium setting is kinda sloppy looking, looks like a High School Gym compared to Pride.
3) Fighters in General have sucked compared to Pride...but this is changing now.
So based on the above there are things I love and hate about both, and 2 years ago I would have said Pride..but now I gotta go with the UFC.
I always wanted to take the Pride fighters and put them in a cleaner better produced UFC octagon...and I feel like this is happening now.

Each org is great and I'm sincerely pleased that they have both been carrying the torch and passing it back and forth for the past 14 years.
Competition is always a good thing, it makes the fight cards better and makes the fighters fight with more passion as they want to belong to one of the elite organizations.

Taking it outside seems more like high school, let's move away so we don't get in trouble.

I prefer UFC over Pride, for the simple fact that the UFC is what got me into MMA so it is my frame of refference. I like the rules of Pride and the judging system better, and I love watching the HW fights, along with all the Olympic caliber athletes they have. I cannot relate to the Japanese production of Pride, but that really has nothing to do with fighting. The UFC has gradually been transforming to something great since Dana took it over for the most part. TUF and UFN are great free events to watch so that is another perk of the UFC, but I woudn't be surprised if they had similar promotions or programs in Japan for Pride.
