| Doctor who prescribed Alistair Overeem medication popped in 2004 for dealing 'controlled substances' - MMAmania.com Quote:
And the plot thickens...
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Alistair Overeem, who appeared in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today (April 24, 2012), has attributed the results of his failed drug test back on March 27 to anti-inflammatory medication he received out of competition to help with his recovery from a rib injury.
That medication, which included self-injections containing testosterone, was prescribed by performance-enhancement doctor Hector Oscar Molina, who was referred to "The Reem" by former UFC fighter Tra Telligman.
The same Dr. Hector Oscar Molina that was fined $25,000 and slapped with restrictions on his practice for three years for "prescribing controlled substances and dangerous drugs over the Internet without establishing a proper physician-patient relationship."
The Star-Telegram has the gory details, after the jump.
The action was initiated when a complaint was filed with the medical board by a Colorado man who received drugs prescribed by Molina from the unregulated Internet pharmacy, prescriptionconsultation.com - prescription. It is no longer operating under that name.
According to the complaint, which is posted on the state medical board Web site, the patient obtained hydrocodone and other medications in increasingly stronger dosages. The original orders and refills were authorized by Molina.
The complaint says that the patient was also being treated by his own physicians at the time and became addicted to the medications.
According to the state medical board, Molina, who was licensed in Texas in August 1997, violated the proper physician-patient relationship because he prescribed the drugs without having examined the patient, taken a proper history, acquired adequate medical records and performed adequate tests.
Overeem was denied a continuance during his hearing in front of the NSAC and was forced to explain why his pre-fight drug test for UFC 146, for which he is no longer participating in, returned a testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) level of 14:1, well over the cutoff limit of 6:1 under the NSAC guidelines.

If I was the UFC I would just cut and move on. The guy has avoided fighting the United States for years and there is a reason for that. Let him go fight chumps in Japan for the rest of his career.

You can say what you want about AO's integrity [or lack thereof] but he's got great marketing, and he's got the potential to spin this...he was being touted as a top 5 HW without ever fighting a top 10 opponent even before he came to the UFC...it would be pretty easy for him to pin it all on a dirty doctor, say the HW's in the UFC are ducking him, and there would be at least 8 guys on this forum who would beleve him [thas right, I'm looking at you DonFrye/Simplejack].
So AO gets a little distance from the scandal, gets a bit of momentum with marketing; goes on to face Fedor on NYE in Japan, and Fedor kills him...and suddenly Fedor is being touted as an elite HW again...that's not what dana wants.
But... Quote:

If I were the UFC, I'd cut him too...because I'd already have signed Fedor for pennies on the dollar after the Henderson loss.

At least we should be. Zuffa needs to take a firm stance on this and let it be known that this won't be tolerated before more cards get screwed up.

rh | Honestly I do not think Fedor fights Overeem. Not because he is scared but because he has princple and wouldn't want to give a cheater the time of day. He is a guy clearly not worried about money so even the money to make from Overeem might not be enough for him to put aside his beliefs.

Jokes aside, no one with an iota of critical thought can buy any spin of this.
He was caught cheating, and ignorance of cheating is totally unacceptable at that level of the game.
Enjoy your shriveled testes Mr. Overeem, you've earned them.

Fedor would probably want random drug testing if they were to fight as well.

Why not make him go down to 205? No Roids so no muscle mass, then he can be back to 205 like he was in Pride. He has experience and great stand up, why not use that at 205 with out juicing.
