Default Is stuff like this the reason people hate Jon Jones?

This tweet came from Jon Jones a few days ago: "Just finished boxing up my old house. I'm about to make it rain on the local Salvation Army in Ithaca.. Somebody's getting blessed."

I think that's awesome. The content of the tweet is good..his wording is the questionable part. He talks like a guy from the younger generation because..he is. Only Jones would get dogged for donating shit to charity...and apparently nice shit at that.

I just don't equate the donation of home furnishings to a "blessing."

And its not like the salvation army is going to give the stuff away. And if its higher end merchandise, they will price it accordingly

Think about the stuff you and I take to the SalVal...old dining room chairs and broken particle board desk furniture. I took his blessing comment as the stuff he was taking was probably very nice. Why would a millionaire take a 1000 couch and pay to move it from NY to NM? He most likely has a furnished home already and is giving away some very nice stuff.

I'm not a huge Jones fan, but I don't have a problem with it, at all.

He's a pretty religious guy, I think his diction is in alignment with his beliefs. If his family was given gifts in the past, I'm pretty sure they would look on them as blessings.

"Blessing: a special favor, mercy, or benefit"

Since this is the second definition of the English word blessing, and we're communicating in English on this forum, I don't think it really matters what YOU equate it to. Just sayin'...

yes this is why. Not for taking things to the salvation army, but for posting that he did in a sad attempt to (as GJ told him) "Get some fans!".

When you are truly a caring, charitable person, you don't need to brag or inform the world that you just did a good deed. You just do a good deed because it's the right thing to do. There are people out there that donate millions of dollars to charity anonymously.

As far as the salvation army goes, if there is anything good that he is donating, it will never make it to the store. The salvation army uses criminals who are ordered community service to separate the donations before they make it to the store. The good stuff never makes it. I had a friend get a DUI and had to go work there, he brought home boxes of Polo shirts, etc. with tags still on them and said he only took a little compared to most people. Most as he found out, took van loads of boxes of stuff and took them to the flea market to sell for themselves.

Back to Jones, I think he's a fake right along with Greg Jackson. I respect Jones as a fighter and I used to think he was a great guy, but the spotlight ruined him for me. Anyone who needs to be told to do the right thing "go get some fans" isn't a great guy. Jackson carefully protects Jones's image and they get him in the news way too much with all these sweet stories. It nullifies it and makes it appear fake and staged to me. Bragging about a good deed. lol.

The amount of overanalyzation of everything Jones does is sad. You took it from his twitter, do you know what twitter is? It's a steady stream of ones consciousness in written form. Your status update is just that, your current status, what you are doing/eating/fucking, etc.

As for his items being blessings, material items are often seen as blessings.

He also posted about someone getting his skinny jeans, a link to the article about his brothers and then a general "How is everyone" tonite. He's a kid...its how they communicate and they use Twitter/Facebook status to update EVERYTHING they do. Jones is incapable of doing anything without scrutiny.
