UFC 147 confirmed to take place in Belo Horizonte

The long battle to decide where is the next UFC edition in Brazil has come to an end. After Sao Paulo lost it and Rio de Janeiro wasn’t able to find available hotels due to United Nations’ event (Rio+20), when the city will host 50 thousand people, TATAME’s crew dig in and found out that UFC 147 will indeed happen in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, on June 23rd.
Last week IMX, company that produces UFC events in the country, had pre-reserved the Journalist Felippe Drummond Stadium (Estadio Jornalista Felippe Drummond) from June 18th until June 23rd. The UFC has visited the stadium last Wednesday and returned yesterday to visit the facilitations.
“They were verifying the facilities and will need an engineer to see if the ceiling can handle a 20 tones structure”, informed the assessors of the administration of the stadium.
The stadium full capacity depends on the event. On volleyball events, for instance, it supports 18 thousand people, like happened last year on concerts of Ozzy Osbourne and Roverto Carlos, which gathered 14 thousand people each.

* I wonder how much validity one can give to this article ? Seems strange they would do a press conference to announce the move to LV and then still hold it in Brazil. Maybe it was just an excuse to do a dry run on Sonnen's security detail... since it all went smooth its a go?
