| Look at the UFC LHW title history. Quote:
Since the birth of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 1993, 11 different men have held the light heavyweight championship. The duration of their reigns ranges from Randy Couture’s 127 days to Tito Ortiz’s 1,260 days. Amazingly, only one of those 11 champions has successfully defended the title at least five times and five of them failed to retain it even once, making it one of the more volatile divisions from a historical standpoint.
Sherdog.com has compiled an infographic which chronicles the journey of the UFC light heavyweight championship, beginning with Frank Shamrock in December 1997 -- it was then recognized as the middleweight crown -- and running through current titleholder Jon Jones. | A Linear History: UFC Light Heavyweight Championship
Interesting. How many more fights do you see Jones keeping the title for? Will he vacate the belt and move up to HW, or will someone defeat him?

Good find. As far as how many more defenses Jones will have....I think the guy to beat him is Hendo. If he get past Hendo I dont know who is left. After that he could go on for a long time. Probably have to rematch Machida, arguably the only guy to put Jones in danger. Maybe Gustaffson after he gets another win or two.

i honestly dont see anyone beating Jones at LHW, not even Hendo. Dan will be giving up like 12" in reach and will not be able to get Jones down. After him tho there isnt anyone left that poses any threat. Maybe Phil Davis?

I'd like to see Jones beat Ortiz's record of defenses so he doesn't have that anymore.Because I do not like Tito Ortiz.

Definitely an interesting look at the LHW history. Not to venture into the land of 'what if', but there's no doubt in my mind that if Frank Shamrock hadn't abruptly retired during his prime, he would hold the record for title defenses.

Tito's title reign was a joke he hand picked his opponents and ducked Chuck forever.

Personally I feel he's only beatable if you take him down and lay on him for five rounds. You need a crazy Chael Sonnen like character who's gonna go in, take punishment and still be able to out wrestle him.

He's a good striker, but if he goes against someone who is really good at getting inside and landing power he could be in a lot of trouble. Thing is, there really isn't anyone like that in MMA fighting at LHW right now.
