| Bitter Josh Koscheck puts media on blast for talking about age ahead of UFC on FOX 3 Bitter Josh Koscheck puts media on blast for talking about age ahead of UFC on FOX 3 Quote:
"A lot of you people write all these stories," he told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com). "'Youth versus age.' Bull[expletive]. You guys are all [expletive] retards. Retards."
Koscheck vs. Hendricks serves as UFC on FOX 3's co-main event and takes place at IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The event's main card airs live on FOX while preliminary-card fights go to FUEL TV and Facebook.
The youth versus experience storyline comes around nearly every major UFC event, but the fact that it's present for this one is at the root of Koscheck's current anger.
He didn't point to a specific story, but rather to things he'd read on Twitter. That riled him enough to speak up, though his eyes were mostly downcast as he issued his rebuttal.
He pointed to 47-year-old Bernard Hopkins, who this past Saturday lost his WBC light-heavyweight title in a rematch with the younger Chad Dawson. He pointed to Randy Couture, who called it quits this past year at the same age, and Chuck Liddell, who quit at 40.
Then to Dan Henderson, who, at 41 years old, is on his way to a title shot against 24-year-old light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones.
While Koscheck agreed that he has a lot more to lose than his younger opponent, he said his age is not a factor leading into the fight. He said he might have even added a few years to his career by leaving his longtime gym, American Kickboxing Academy.
"I laugh at you idiots," he said of the media.
But while the criticism has made Koscheck angry, it's also motivated him as the fight nears. After admittedly underestimating his previous opponent, Mike Pierce, he said Hendricks presented a good opportunity to put himself back in title contention.
However, the stakes of the fight are unclear. UFC president Dana White said today that a title shot isn't necessarily on the horizon for the winner.
Still, with interim champ Carlos Condit expected to meet undisputed champ Georges St-Pierre later this year, the winner is positioned near the top of the welterweight division.
Whether Koscheck ever gets another title shot – and those questions have come aplenty since a lopsided loss to welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre at UFC 124 – is not his concern at this moment.
Proving a lot of people wrong is.
"Every one of you, counting me out, I love it," Koscheck said. "Keep counting me out. I'll be fighting for four or five more years. Every time you write a story about me, just say I'm too old. Too washed up. Too many fights. Too many miles.
"I like that. I've got a lot of people to prove wrong on Saturday night, and I'm looking at every one of you. You're probably all writing that [expletive] about me."

Koscheck is what 34? I guess I can understand his frustration if it's a sensitive subject. But it shouldn't be. 34 ain't old and it's not like he's taken years of hellacious beatings yet. He better be focused though, Hendricks and his heel beard are looking scary these days

They seem to mention everyone's ages in the article besides Koschek and Hendricks. Awesome job on that. 34 really isn't that old though.

Koscheck is such a bitter person. He acted like the heel routine was just a front to get more attention, but it seems like he really is just an asshole.
No, he's not old, but he hasn't looked good in a fight in a while, Where as Hendricks has looked great. He's pretty much at the point where people don't see a resurgence in his career because of his age, so while he may not be old he is reaching that twilight of his career where he's pretty much a top 10 gatekeeper. He probably realizes it deep down and that's why he's so pissed.

This is literally the first time I've heard anyone play up the youth vs. experience angle for this fight.
Josh craps on about "proving people wrong". I'd like him to prove all the people who say that 90% of his offense these days is eye poking followed by long, slow overhand rights.
I don't think he will, though.
