Yes Frank is bigger and stronger than JDS, but i get a good laugh when he says he is faster than JDS.

I like Mir and respect his game more than a lot of pewople, but I dont think he can strike with JDS. Frank has good boxing but JDS is on a different level | agreed, if Mir dumb enough to stand with JDS, JDS is not only going home with the belt, but most likely a KO bounus as well.

Carwin was bigger and stronger than JDS too. See how that worked out for him? We haven't seen his ass since lol. (yes, I know Shane needed back surgery, what came of that? Did he have it?)

Mir will get KOd if he stands with JDS.
But despite that he says that he is faster and all that BS, that he knows that his chance is in the ground so he will try to take JDS down.
It will be a very tough fight for him. We have seen big upsets in MMA but I don't think he will beat JDS

I believe Mir's chin gets touched far too many times before he has the opportunity to employ the gameplan he'll need to utilize to be even remotely dangerous in this fight. For me, Mir's recent winning streak has been against lower ranked(Nelson) and past their prime(Crocop & Big Nog II) challengers and aside from getting rocked in the Big Nog sequel, still has the two hideous Lesnar II & Carwin KO's on his record, which gives me pause to think he can survive the onslaught that such a pristine striker like JDS is going to throw at him. I don't believe Mir's takedowns are going to be applicable before he gets tagged and I think his chin is going to be an issue. I'd like to point out that Mir surprised alot of people by outstriking Kongo at 107, however he doesn't really have the capabilities to stand with JDS, I really just see this being the overwhelming issue in this fight. dos Santos is just so violent and has such pricision in his fists, I can't see Mir taking too many.
I'd also probably recommend to Mir that he may not want to point out how much "bigger" he is than JDS, given that he is afterall Overeem's replacement & himself has appeared physically transformed these past few years. Just a little advice for the future.

I'm not sure what's going on with Carwin...he just got dropped from out top 10 based on inactivity. I wonder if he's made enough to retire on, or if he'll make another run at it. He's not getting any younger.

rh | I've heard alot of stuff revolving around his back surgery(or surgeries?) and how harsh his recoup has been and how they keep moving back his targeted return date because he hasn't rehabbed to that point yet. He is getting up there in age and hasn't really turned any corners as a fighter, more or less being a "what you see, is what you get" powerhouse. Truth be told, I wouldn't be totally shocked if he doesn't come back simply because this injury has been so impactful on his life, I've just heard alot of negative comments made about his recovery experience....
I'd also hazard to say that while Carwin isn't as rich as alot of UFC stars, he probably made a nice chunk on 116 for sure and his other bouts and endorsements, not to mention that he has his engineering career to fall back upon. He's also fairly articulate and could make a fine UFC ambassador and spokesman if he needed alternative income.

Just a little advice for the future. | Totally agree & Mir has a tendency to be a bit of a slow starter while JDS bolts right out of the gate, that alone says to me that this could end with Frank seeing stars before he's even had a chance to throw one his aforementioned "harder punches"
I too find it funny that no one seems to notice (or care) that Frank packed on a good 10-15 pounds of lean muscle in a matter of months. Mir used to come in around 250-255 pounds & was a lil bit soft, chubby round the waist, now he cuts to make 265 & is hard & lean looking. I'm not accusing him of anything but other fighters get jumped on for that sort of transformation.

Par for the fucking course like I stated in a separate thread. Goddamn it Mir, my loyalty to you is betrayed every time you step into the Octagon thinking you can out-box people and forget the fundamentals of your skillset. Puncher's chance, I got that, but it's hard to be your proponent reading things like this and envisioning the first round exchange that leaves you a flesh heap on the mat in the opening seconds.
