the middleweight division is looking really good right now like others have said, but id give belcher the title shot and clear number one contender status against winner of silva-sonnen2 above everyone else, including bisping while hector lombard searches for his first octagon win. belcher has earned it and i also felt he beat akiyama, remember the superman punch off the cage

I'd love to see him against the winner of Belfort/Silva or Stann vs Lombard. I could see Belcher vs either winner for #1 contender as I think Vitor and Lombard both would need one more fight before a fight with Anderson (If Chael wins that would change things a bit) I don't think the winner of Bisping/Tim is there yet.

Belcher is very underrated in my opinion. Palhares got the take down and went straight for Belchers leg. They stayed on the ground "playing footsies" as Joe Rogan said for about 2-3 with Palhares trying to lock up an ankle lock, leg lock, whatever other kind of lock he could get but failing. Belcher actually almost had Palhares in a twister position at one point. It was a very solid showing by Belcher.

Super stoked for Belcher, so happy he managed to win, and impressively!
That being said, there is a plethora of great match ups for him out there without the need for Anderson. He could fight Belfort/Wandy winner, Bisping/Boetch winner or the Weidmen/Munoz winner.
All 3 of those fights happen around the same time as Sonnen/Silva, so there are 6 potential fights for him there

Belcher VS Belfort sounds good to me. I would like to see him fight Bisping, too, but I am counting on Boetsch to drop a rock on his head. | I'm not surprised. I have been saying that Belcher was the man for a long time now at mw. I would personally like to see Belcher fight Munoz or Bisping.
