I like Gegard. Hope he recovers quick and gets the fuck out of strikeforce. I would love to see him fight Machida or Shogun.

Still pissed they never matched him up with Hendo or Feijao in strikeforce. I wanted to see how he does against a good muay thai guy in Feijao and someone with huge power and a great chin in Hendo.

He gets out struck by both Machida and Shogun. I dont see why he would deserve a fight with one of them right off the bat anyways.

Give him someone like Forrest, Bonner, Lil Nog, or Gustafason to start with. None of them would be a gimme for him, and if he gets past them, he deserves a better fight. Honestly, at this point... Forrest would probably be the easiest fight for him out of those guys...

If this discussion was on how he would do at MW, then it would go a lot differently. He has wins over guys like Lombard and Jacare. His striking would get him past guys like Bisping, Stann, Belcher. MW is a lighter division and less stacked than LHW, so yes he would do much better there. Only guys at the top I see him struggling with is Anderson, Vitor, and Sonnen.

But he is the one who said Jones is on his radar and he has been fighting at LHW throughout his recent strikeforce tenure. so you can see why people are talking about him at LHW. Iv wanted to see him at MW for a while now, but it doesnt look like he wants to go back down/or even can at this point.

Is that all everyone needs to beat Jones? He would struggle with guys like Evans, Bader, and Davis in the wrestling department as well. But guys who have trained wresting and tdd for decades have had trouble stopping Jones' takedowns. With some things, you either have the talent, or you dont. Not everyone is like GSP or Jones when it comes to the explosiveness needed to land and defend takedowns.

Rampage I disagree that he gets outstruck by Machida or Shogun. Gegard could compete in K1 if he so desired. I actually watched him do it a few New Years ago.

that fight with king mo was bullshit. mo just held him down and did absolutely nothing. in my opinion, mousasi showed that you can win a fight while still having someone in your guard round after round.

he did the most damage and landed the most strikes all while on his back.

My point in bringing up his MW tenure was to remind everyone that he is still probably getting acclimated to the weight class a little bit. No need to venture into a discussion on how well he could/would do at MW.

and no obviously wrestling is not all you need to beat Jones, but considering he puts people on their back almost every fight and has vicious GNP, it's probably an area that needs to be covered. Actually I never said anything about him beating Jones, I said he would be a good challenge with improved wrestling...so perhaps you should at least check what people say before you reply next time.

I mean shit, Mousasi's one weakness is that people can hold him down lol, that's not too bad compared to someone who has a weak chin or weak striking D or no sub D...it's something you can get better at with constant drilling with strong wrestlers which I'd imagine is something he has planned. I will gladly be waiting aboard the Mousasi war wagon for his next fight

at What HW? The best striking we have seen in K1 has been from big HW's or the smaller guys. There is no in between unfortunately. I remember reading an article years back, that is why Anderson decided not to go pro in kickboxing. Where would he fight, who would he fight?

Gegard has solid technique, I love to watch him fight. But im not sure he is as talented as Shogun or Machida. Machida's speed, feints, angles would be too much for him. He would get put out or beat up badly. Shogun would kick him to death and land his land his punches once his legs were beat up, if he made a gameplan around that.

I like all three of the fighters you are talking about and would love to see him scrap against either. Sho or Machida might win, but it sure wouldn't be easy.

Yes, they would be great fights. Not knocking Mousasi. I have been a fan of his for a while. Only see that some overrate him.

Yes. If Jones decides to stay at LHW for years to come like he says he will when asked. The UFC is going to need as many top LHW's as they can get to feed him.

He may rematch Rashad, Machida, and Shogun.... but who next.

Gustafson, Davis, Mousasi?

If they want guys like Mousasi, Gustafson, and Davis to get title shots to keep Jones active as a champion, they should avoid pitting those guys against guys like Evans and Machida. They are in an awkward spot. They are better than everyone else at LHW, but dont see them ever getting past Jones. Id love to see Evans and Machida at MW, like they played with the idea. Still both feel they can eventually beat Jones.

Im betting Gustafson gets the title shot first out of those 3 guys. The UFC mostlikely wont put him against someone too good.
