It's funny though how he got a DUI when it always seemed that he's been the type to stay away from drinking. | Outside of the octagon he is a regular dude with real world problems. As such he will be faced with adversity just like any other man walking planet earth. Everybody yourself included has their own shit to deal with and they can either rise to the occassion or be consumed by it.
Even role models fall from grace. He is a young man with large shoes to fill and unfortunately this is one fight he isn't prepared for at this stage in his career.
If you are a supporter of Jones (a true fan) you will stick by him even when his chips are down. I really don't care for the guy that much but I don't want to see people using his DUI as a basis for their hatred.

I never said that Jones was a terrible role model, I do not consider him a role model at all.
And no, I am not saying that MMA fighters should be role models.
In the case of Jones he says about how he wants to be liked, and how he wants to be an example for young people, basically he says that he wants to be THE Role Model for other people.
It is not that I want him to be a role model, it is HIM who wants to be a role model.

So Jon Jones should definitely quite trying to be a role model. Here that Jon? Stop trying to inspire kids to stay in school, get active and workout, be respectful to yourself and others, have self discipline, and go out and achieve their dreams. Definitely drop that whole "Christian" thing, because Christians don't fuck up, so you should definitely turn in your bible ASAP. See, because you are a flawed human being, that means you're not qualified to inspire anyone. So just give up, enjoy your money, get plenty of pussy, drink (but don't drive) and be as big of a douche as you're heart truly desires. Because nobody wants to see you act like a better man, even if you strive to be one......

Jones has plenty of time to develop into a role model. Right now he is wanting too much too soon. Dana warned him about being able to handle all the fame and fortune at such a young age.
You can't make people like or respect you (well the right way anyways). That is something that develops over time. Jones should focus more on his MMA career and less of what people think about him. Chill out, take the Charles Barkley approach and let everything else fall into place.
Its a DUI people and its not your business so get over it.

People complaining that this apology isn't sincere. But why does he need to apologize to us at all? He doesn't owe us one. To his family, sponsors, and boss yes he should apologize to them. But he doesn't owe me one, nor any of you.

It is not that I want him to be a role model, it is HIM who wants to be a role model. | Ok Pashak, thank you for clarifying. The way you were talking about him earlier, it sounded like you thought of him as a role model. IMO, I would not want any MMA fighter or even athlete as a role model for myself or my kids. Look at Tiger Woods for example. Look at the many NFL players that get into trouble with the law. Shit look at the many NFL players that cant even balance a check book and they go broke a couple years after they stop playing. (Warren Sapp)
