| UFC Champ Jon Jones Posts Facebook Statement On DUI Arrest UFC Champ Jon Jones Posts Facebook Statement On DUI Arrest - Bloody Elbow Quote:
UFC Light Heavyweight Jon Jones was arrested Saturday morning in Binghamton, New York on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. He drove his Bentley into a telephone pole. Jones' mother bailed him out a few hours after the incident.
His manager Malki Kawa issued a statement in the immediate aftermath of the arrest: Quote: |
"I can confirm that Jon Jones was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI. While the facts of this situation are still being gathered and situated, First Round Management fully supports Jon and we are asking for fans and media to respect the privacy of Jon and his family during this time."
| From Jones' Facebook page via MiddleEasy: Quote:
"Man I haven't added anyone new to my Facebook page in like three years and right now I'm so glad that I haven't. It has literally been sickening to have so many people try to kick me while I'm down. At the same time, I totally understand, I gave them the leeway to. I screwed up, big time. Just needed to say thank you to all you guys for being amazing friends/supporters.
Always having to deal with so many critics, haters and fickle mma fans, I almost forgot how strong of a home base I had (607 and people that knew me before I was a champion fighter). Although the hell that will come with this hasn't even started yet, I want you guys to know how much better you've all made me feel, not only about this situation but about life, everything. It's good to feel that people are there and care. With that being said, I felt I should apologize to you first.
I'm truly sorry to those of you that I may have embarrassed in any way, to those of you with kids that I may have let down. I will prove to them as well as to myself, that no matter what is happening in life, we can always work our way back and make things even better than before. Reading you guys uplifting comments was a great reminder for me to not give up on who I am or all the hateful people. I'm not gonna allow this situation to outweigh the positive. I love you guys right back and I promise to make things right. PS sorry about the terrible grammar "

So he got a DUI? Big deal; how many Americans have DUI's on their records? I just want to see him whoop ass... and he hasn't let me down yet.

Way to be humble and begin your "Apology" by addressing the numerous "Haters" like it's some how undeserved. This guy is a jackass. I know he is a young kid and everyone makes mistakes but if there was any time to be a bit less conceited this would be it. You fucked up Jon, you are lucky that telephone pole wasn't another person or even a family. You got lucky. Say you are sorry and plan on doing your best to ensure that this won't happen again. Then pray that your sponsors don't begin dropping like flies.
and no one cares about your grammar...

I'm sure it was the haters and fickle fans that forced the drinks down his throat, made him endanger the lives of anyone else on the road, and then ran him off the road into an even more fickle telephone pole which probably supplied power to some haters' houses. Then the hatin' ass cops decided to treat him like a normal citizen when he clearly is not.
I'm just kidding. A DUI can happen to nearly anyone who drinks. I'm sure he will be fine as long as he gets over this victim pose and realizes it's not the case.

More than ever, Jones needs a strong manager.

He is a great fighter but damn, he really acts like a girl sometimes.
"Oh you haters are so mean with me, that is why I will not add you to my friend list on Facebook"
People keep repeating that he is so young and whatever. Well he is not 15 years old, he is 24. At that age you already should realize a lot of things, you are already an adult, not some whiny teen.
You know that you are a world champion, you are famous, there are actually many many people that idolize you, you receive so much money. You should understand that despite the age, there are some things you can not do.

Most of you guys hate him for different reasons. I personally don't dislike the guy. To me, it just seems that his rise to fame was so quick that he might not know how to act in front of everyone with the way he acts and the words he says. I believe he is just being true to himself and there ain't nothing wrong with that. It's funny though how he got a DUI when it always seemed that he's been the type to stay away from drinking.

So his first concern are the fickle fans trying to kick him while he's down, and then he goes on to admit that he messed up.
I don't know, maybe it's just how he worded it, but acting like a god damed victim here is not going to win him any fucking sympathy points. Wow, just realized his statement actually has made me a little angry.
If he wants to own up to his mistake, good for him, but the words he used left a bad taste in my mouth. Get over yourself Jones.
