| UFC 146's Cain Velasquez won't fight heavyweight 'coach' Daniel Cormier UFC 146's Cain Velasquez won't fight heavyweight 'coach' Daniel Cormier - MMAmania.com Quote:
Stop me if you've heard this one before, but two guys who train together at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) don't want to fight each other.
To that end, I guess we can count Cain Velasquez as one of the few mixed martial arts (MMA) fans who are glad Daniel Cormier still has another fight left under the Strikeforce banner.
That's because the former UFC heavyweight champion, who battles Brazilian "Bigfoot" Antonio Silva at UFC 146 this Saturday night (May 26, 2012) in Las Vegas, Nevada, tells MMA Fighting "DC" is his coach and despite their potential "collision course," there's "no point" to making them fight. Quote: |
"I train with him every day, we spar three times a week, so I know what he has and I know how much better he's gotten just over a couple of months. He's still new to this sport and he's always getting better. We won't take [a fight against each other]. There's no point. We're training partners, he's my coach. How's that gonna be if I fight my coach? If it's for the title, we'll talk about it when that time comes, but we're just fighting other guys right now. We're not gonna fight each other."

If its not for the title, then there's no reason to fight your teammate. Especially when there's pleanty of other fights.

Is this pretty much the only time I'll agree with it.
Because(from what I read) Daniel went to AKA to train and pretty much became the AKA Wrestling Coach due to his credentials.
So yes, I do think it would be dumb to have Cain fight him.
Although I think it would be a great fight, because they both have the cardio and wrestling never say die mentality.

I am salvitating at the thought of a Jones-Cormier fight...
Cormier has probably one of the most built cores I have ever seen...seems like he just has a shitload of muscle in that area.

He's not the leanest guy out there, but he's got plenty of muscle.

Cain was taken down by Lesnar until Brock made an amateur mistake of giving him space.
I'd take dc over Cain but I've never been totally sold on Cain anyway
