| Bigfoot Silva: "I was fighting to see, not fighting Cain" Bigfoot Silva: "I was fighting to see, not fighting Cain" Quote:
Antonio Silva has taken his UFC 146 loss to Cain Velasquez like a man, but he wants to make one thing clear - he wasn’t thrashing about trying to get away from Velesquez, he says, he was just trying to shake his own blood out of his eyes.
The fight was stopped at 3:36 of the first round and was one of the bloodiest bouts in UFC history; Silva was checked by a doctor halfway through the round due to the blood which completely covered his face and much of his opponent’s torso following a Velasquez elbow shot.
“I want to thank everybody for the support and positive energy that all of you passed to me. I was very well trained, wish so much to fight but unfortunately I had a cut at 0:30 that bled so much and spoiled my view,” he wrote. “So I was fighting to see and not to try and get away from Cain Velasquez’s hits.”
Silva, who was making his UFC debut, concluded by observing that he is “so grateful to everybody and chiefly to God for everything He provides me, all blessings that are poured on me and my family. I only suffered 7 stitches and I will be back soon.”

I still find hard to believe that it was only one cut that caused all that pool of blood.
By the way 7 stitches is relatively not that much of a big cut.

I bumped my head on a chair in elementary school and felt no pain, but blood started gushing out of my head.. i thought it was paint at first. It was a tiny cut and i didnt need stitches at all.

you got taken down really easily then beat on,and elbowed until you got cut. COuldn't defend the GnP at all and paid the price. It was clear to see that Bigfoot was having trouble seeing, but if he defend the GnP in the first place,or never got put on his back it wouldn't have happened.
Sour grapes, just like his fight against DC, getting tired of it.

Facial and scalp lesions bleed like crazy, add adrenalin into it and you have a gusher.
I had a buddy get hit with a stick by accident in the middle of his forhead the ammount of blood that followed was pretty nasty, he only needed 4 stiches to close the cut.
I remember seeing Bret Hart applying the sharpshooter to Steve Austin who had a "cut" on his forehead, it was running down his face in a similar fashion to my buddy's cut.

He got busted open really fast, it could have been a different fight if that didn't happen. It's clear that after the cut, he was very uncomfortable and was unable to really defend himself. Fight was a total bloodbath, they should have stopped the fight right away when they saw Silva couldn't really see.

In all fairness it is not that before the cut Bigfoot was defending too well anyway. Cain was just very superior that night, he really came very angry lol

A few things I took from this fight.
1. Cain reacted the best way he could after his loss. He came back hungry, motivated, and ready to whup some ass.
2. The ringside doctors need to apply some sort of vision test when fighters have blood in their eyes. Simply asking if they can see isnt enough.
3. Bigfoot can really absorb some punishment.
