Default Rashad Evans eyes Jones, Machida rematches in the future

Rashad Evans next fight: 'Suga' eyes Jon Jones and Lyoto Machida rematches - MMAmania.com

by Adam Guillen Jr

Quote:
Speaking on his bout with current champion and former teammate and friend Jon Jones:

"It was difficult because it was a fight I really wanted, but it was a good learning tool because it helped me understand that things won't always go my way and it was something that helped me grow as a person. Did it hurt? Yes. Physically and emotionally. After the fight, a week later if felt like I had been in a car accident. My body was really banged up but my feelings were hurt more. But after a while you let it go. I didn't get him this time and I know he didn't get him he was a better fighter that night. I'm going to train, get better and I'll get a chance to fight him again.

I don't have any ill will towards him or anything like that right now. Probably when we fight again I'll have some words to say to him, but for the most part I don't have a problem with him. If he's the champion, I think I will fight him again, I think our paths will cross one more time. He is very tough because he is very tricky and he made some adjustments in the fight that were really key and that gave him the one. I think he is a tough champion for anybody to beat.

Speaking on what he feels like is next for him:

"I would like to Avenge my loss to Jones one day, but also to Machida. Last time he got me pretty good, and all those Internet pictures of me getting knocked out all over the internet."

If he dropped to MW he would wreak havoc. I would easily pick him over Sonnen, Okami, Munoz, Bisping, and probably even Vitor. I honestly don't know if I could be that confident in Silva beating him either. Evans has never been swept, his hands are quite good (much better than Sonnens), his defensive wrestling is top notch, and his footwork/speed is great.

He is a small LHW that carries around a decent amount of body fat into each fight, he could make MW no problem.

I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Machida again because when he fought him the first time, he had some brain disease where he thought he was a top level striker and left his wrestling at home for the fight. Add to that the fact that it would be a great fight.

He had the same disease in the Jones fight, but I agree. He would have lost the Forrest fight if he didn't land that overhand right. He was getting outclassed big time on the feet and absolutely refused to even attempt a takedown.

He should be fighting Shogun.

I do like that idea, but I wonder if Rashad would consider it a step down in taking that fight? Though, to reiterate, I do like that idea.

Rashad is a tough fight for anybody, but agree with the green one he needs to go back to wrestling and use his striking for his 2nd and 3rd choices. All of the champs near his weight class are all better strikers than him. He got the kick ko and got a aging Chuck ko and it seems he gave up on useing his bread and butter.

I have Shogun ranked above Rashad.

Shogun also beat Machida, [twice, really] who made Evans photoshop fodder across the interwebs.

As of right now I wouldnt have a problem with Shogun ranked a little higher than Evans. I would love to see them fight. I think Rashad would win a UD though.
