Bibiano Fernandes Latest Victim to Injury Bug, Out of UFC 149 | MMAWeekly.com

On June 4, Bibiano Fernandes signed for his first fight with the UFC and one week later he is out due to injury.

The unfortunate injury plague of 2012 continues to haunt UFC matchmaker Joe Silva as Fernandes is the latest fighter to fall out of a fight after suffering an injury in training.

UFC officials announced the news on Monday.

Fernandes was one of the most sought after bantamweights in the free agent market. He was expected to face Roland Delorme at UFC 149 on July 21 in Calgary.

A former Dream champion, Fernandes will now have to wait until later in the year to hopefully make his long awaited UFC debut.

Delorme is expected to remain on the UFC 149 fight card, but a new opponent has not been secured yet.

Man oh man, I don't even know what to say about this card anymore

5 of the top 6 fights have been cancelled/changed, and there's still 5 weeks to go

I guess me and my buddy will be drinking more beers at this than originally planned

this card is starting to shape up like ufc 150 in denver, guess i don't feel so bad now. :P
guess that's one of the draw backs of having so many damn cards going on. seems like either all the top fighters are booked, or injured. not much room for replacements :/

Not sure man. Originally I was holding out hope, since literally our co-main (Shogun) event was taken off the card and not replaced at all. But, I dunno dude, time is ticking. If they dont announce a new fight within the next 7 days, I doubt they will

Couldn't agree more

On paper, when they are first announced, all these cards look great and they work. But the second fighters start getting injured, everyone is already booked, so it's almost impossible to find a replacement fighter without destroying a fight on a different card

I did not find the terms set before me by the UFC beneficial to my family and as a result an agreement could not be reached and no contract was signed. It should be noted that the UFC is the largest MMA organization in the world however, my personal and professional obligations have brought me to the decision that I will not be a part of the UFC organization at this point in time. The day that an agreement is reached and the terms set forth are beneficial to both parties involved, I will have the most pleasure and satisfaction to fight for the organization while always representing my beloved country.

Crazy... Seems a few fighters have been speaking out against what the UFC has been offering them.
