| Aldo coach would not let him fight Koch with thigh injury Aldo coach would not let him fight Koch with thigh injury Quote:
Nova Uniao head coach Andre Pederneiras explained the injury to his athlete.
“In the beginning of May, Aldo strained the muscle of the thigh training kicks. The x-ray pointed to a second-degree lesion in an area and a first-degree in another. The doctors recommended only physiotherapy for one month, what was accomplished,” he tells SporTV.com
“Late in May he felt better and started training again. On June 2, Aldo felt a very strong pain in the same locality, did new exams and it was verified that he continued with the first-degree lesion. Doctors said that it would cost him at least three weeks off.
“In this way, I, as a coach, could not let him fight. We wanted the fight badly but without properly training, there is no way. I can’t let him fight not being 100 per cent or without total preparation.”
Aldo now won’t be back in action until the latter end of the year, possibly as early as September but more likely in October or November. He will likely face the winner of the Faber/Barao fight for the unified title.
