No matter how you chop it up you can't put him on the level of Anderson Silva. That is just nonsense.
Yes.... you cant put either of them on the level with AS. odd that chuck brought that up.
If he had fought Machida back when he was still champ he would have lost his belt sooner. If you put Hendo in the place of Rampage, he would love lost as well.
Maybe this quote was taken out of context.... or maybe liddell is a sore sport. Thats like Rashad saying "Machida isnt among the great fighters" then saying he doesnt hold up to Jones.

Anderson Silva and Chuck Liddel have actually partied a little bit. I believe they are fans of one another.
Im gonna have to agree with chuck, only because shogun is so inconsistant. When shogun shows up on form, he is a human wrecking machine.. when he isnt, well...
shogun who fought machida, and hendo is all the way at the top of the MMA food chain.. the shogun who lost to griffin, gassed hard against coleman, and stood around watching the jon jones show isnt.
Chuck is also one of the most dominant lhw champions in UFC history along with Tito Ortiz. Shogun has lost to Griffin, Machida, Jon Jones and Dan Henderson. His UFC track record isn't exactly that stellar in comparison.
Shogun has a lot to prove in the UFC and no way has he enjoyed the same level of success he had in Pride. I wouldn't put him up there with Anderson Silva but he is up there with Dan Henderson.
I don't think Chuck would have ever won the title In Pride. If Shogun would have come over in the Pride days Chuck would have been in trouble IMO.

Shogun looked like crap against Griffin, that much I will give you. He was robbed in the first Machida fight, then in the rematch ended it quickly and decisively. The Dan Henderson fight was a heck of a fight and Dan was the better man that night. Had it been a five rounder, I think the result would have been different. Holding a loss to Jones against him is ridiculous. The only technique that has worked to beat Jon Jones is the Matt Hamill technique (i.e. let him break your face and hope he throws an illegal elbow in the process).
I think Chuck is just way out in left field on this one.
His loss to Griffen was bad, but even chuck at his best would have gotten KTFO badly by Hendo and Machida...
Yes, chuck may have had more title defenses, etc... but you have to look at the UFC LHW division landscape at the time and who he was beating.
He didnt have to fight beasts like Hendo, Machida or Jones.
I like the iceman so much. I want to disagree with you, but damn it I can't. You are correct sir shogun has fought a murders row of lhws. Still gonna say that IMO Chuck is right up there with hendo, gsp, fedor, anderson, hughes, randy, & cro cop (personal hall of fame).

Seeing Hendo and Shogun hit each other that much must have made you groggy.... that fight was 5 rounds
