| Report: Liddell says Shogun is not among the great fighters Report: Liddell says Shogun is not among the great fighters Quote:
Chuck Liddell is in Belo Horizonte, Brazil for UFC 147. The visit made Liddell recall a fight with a Brazilian star of the sport, when he faced former PRIDE and UFC champion Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua,.
The curious thing is that, despite losing by knockout in the first round, Liddell does not consider the Brazilian to be among the best fighters in MMA today.
"Shogun is not among the great fighters, and never will be," said 'The Iceman'. "He needs much more to reach the level of Anderson Silva, for example."

Well sorry to throw some hate Chuck's way to you ones holding on to his ballsack. But this is coming from a man who's been crushed in highlight real fashion numerous times and one of those doing the crushing happens to be the guy he's talking down on who has never been KO'd and IMO has more impressive KO's by far then Chuck.
I dont know if im missing something but to me most of Chuck's KO's have been TKO's and the most impressive KO's he's been involved with are the ones he's on the recieving end of

And I don't think you can say One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) is a better movie than Animal House (1978); they're different genres. I think they're both examples of great craftsmanship.

Well of course if you use Anderson Silva as the benchmark very few are going to be considered as good or even close.

Liddell hasnt done what Anderson has either....
We always wanted to see Prime Wand vs. Prime Chuck.... however a fight with shogun is much easier to predict. He gets beatdown every time.

Shogun has lost to Griffin, Machida, Jon Jones and Dan Henderson. His UFC track record isn't exactly that stellar in comparison.
Shogun has a lot to prove in the UFC and no way has he enjoyed the same level of success he had in Pride. I wouldn't put him up there with Anderson Silva but he is up there with Dan Henderson.

Yes, chuck may have had more title defenses, etc... but you have to look at the UFC LHW division landscape at the time and who he was beating.
He didnt have to fight beasts like Hendo, Machida or Jones.

He didnt have to fight beasts like Hendo, Machida or Jones. | No matter how you chop it up you can't put him on the level of Anderson Silva. That is just nonsense nor can you draw unrealistic comparisons between fighters in different weight classes...
An extreme example: Jon Jones has fought harder competition than Jose Aldo/Cruz (those are elements that neither fighter can control but you can look at their track record while under the UFC umbrella)
