| UFC 152: B.J. Penn Wants VADA Testing, Rory MacDonald Accepts http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/6/26...donald-accepts Quote:
BJ Penn is taking one of the first steps in trying to break into a new frontier of drug testing in the UFC. While the promotion was ahead of the curve in some respects by holding their own drug testing in countries and states without a solid testing policy, recent months have seen VADA take hold in major boxing matches.
This deeper level of testing throuh VADA has actually caught fighters with illegal substances in their systems, catching both Andre Berto ahead of his rematch with Victor Ortiz and Lamont Peterson before his rematch with Amir Khan.
Today Penn tweeted UFC boss Dana White and his UFC 152 opponent Rory MacDonald:
Here's B.J.'s first tweet:
. @rory_macdonald VADA anti-doping has offered to sponsor our upcoming fight.I've accepted and invite you to help me clean up the sport
Here's his second:

. @rory_macdonald VADA results will be released after the fight to ensure that the fight happens. Lets get started asap!!

I wonder if the UFC will have anything to say about this as it could increase pressure to step up testing to the VADA level for all fights (or at least major fights) going forward.
Here is MacDonald's reply:
@bjpenndotcom already worried BJ? honestly i think its a great idea 2, and im ready to do the testing for our fight aswell @danawhite

| I hope it does add pressure so we aren't denied possible major fights because the organization has failed to get rid of the "rule benders"

I understand what BJ is doing here and I hope that it he is being sincere about cleaning the sport up. Most 22? year old men don't have a need for TRT so I really can't see a failure coming for Rory.

I get this idea by BJ is probably partially motivated by his feelings towards Jackson's camp and GSP...
But I think you are barking up the wrong tree here BJ. Rory is too squeaky clean to be messing with any PEDs.
I wonder Dana's reaction to this. BJ is more or less saying UFC is not doing enough but Dana cant get upset with BJ over "trying to clean up the sport"

bj wasnt targeting rory, he just wants rory to oblige in hopes that other clean fighters will do the same in order to weed out the cheaters. exactly why penn is my favorite of all time...all natural, no questions. also might wanna do something about any potential vaseline controversy...just saying.

this is kind of a misleading title. it leads you to beleive bj himself is the one who wants this testing because he suspects macdonald of juicing. but really what it is the trsting company wanting to sponsor the fight to bring the testing method to a big time fight.
