| Sonnen: "I either take testosterone or die" Sonnen: "I either take testosterone or die" Quote:
He touched on the topic with the LA Times this weekend:
You won a therapeutic use exemption from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for this fight, acknowledging you need two injections a week of testosterone for medical reasons (hypogonadism). Can you explain this?
"I don't have an option. I either take this medicine or die. I'm not asking if I can take it. It's up to them to let me take it. It's a substance that's often abused, and I deal with taking it in shame. But a blood test can clear you, and show I take the appropriate amount. I'm paying for the tests. I've taken four so far. And they'll do a day-before and morning-after test as well."
Sonnen’s TRT exemption was just one of several things that got under Anderson Silva’s skin lately, prior to the Brazilian champion exploding in anger on last week’s UFC 148 conference call. He told the listening media that Sonnen was a “cheat” and “a criminal” and that he intends to break his legs and teeth.
What did you make of Silva's comments about you — calling you a criminal and discussing his violent intentions for you in the octagon on fight night?
“If you want to make it a morality play, I'll do it. In fact, I'll speak to him about it Saturday night while running my fist up his prissy little self, for 25 minutes to see where he's at on that. I kind of expected it. You idiot, Anderson, we signed up for a fistfight. I've been looking for this fight for two years, so that kind of stuff doesn't work with me.
“Him talking like that? He's singing my song.”

| Good to know.

Saying that you paid for 4 tests so far is meaningless unless they were random. Also, we're year test in these recent months or does he mean he has paid for 4 tests since he got popped?

He needs it or he'll die... funny thing is he doesn't seem to be able to remember when asked how much he is injecting.

As I know several people who take Testosterone injections, and each time they get one it's given to them by a doctor or nurse.

A patient has complete access to the dosage information, and a professional athlete who has already been popped for incrediably high testesterone levels has no excuse for not knowing.

I was just referring to the initial time he was asked when he was first 'popped' for elevated levels. The point I was trying to make is that it's very easy for someone to overlook their dosages when not administrating it themselves. At the time he was popped TRT wasn't being scrutinized like it is now, if I'm not mistaken. So in answer to your first question, yeah it may of mattered then. Although I'm right along with you as far as it not being an excuse for a professional athlete to know. I just wanted to put this out there since so much assumption gets thrown around these forums.
As far as my stand on TRT, there are plenty of natural ways to elevate ones testosterone, if it has started to drop off, and I wish more athletes would try these routes instead of hopping on the injection band wagon so fast. I blame supplements in general though. Supplements aren't needed either, people can achieve everything a supplement can give, with a proper diet and hard work. Supplements, in my opinion, open the door for people to feel they need other 'things/additives' just to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It's part of the whole 'dependency' issue that plagues society today.

I believe Chael finally! If he didn't take testosterone, he would die in the octagon at the hands/feet of Anderson.
