| Anderson Silva Has No Plans of Retiring Any Time Soon Anderson Silva Has No Plans of Retiring Any Time Soon Quote:
When asked about rumors that he might retire after his UFC 148 main event fight against Chael Sonnen – win, lose or draw – Silva was happy to put those to rumors to rest.
“Nope,” Silva answered with a sly look on his face.
For years, Silva has toyed with the idea of retirement and maybe with good reason.
He’s entering his 10th consecutive title defense, already a record he owns in the UFC history books; he’s been undefeated since 2006 (when he lost by disqualification, but otherwise hasn’t been defeated since 2004); and he faced almost every top ranked middleweight over the last six years.

I would really like to see him jump into the shark tank that is LHW. Would love to see how he would do against the likes of Evans, Shogun, Bader and Jones. The only thing that really hurts his legacy in my eyes is the fact his record is littered with a bunch of so-so fighters. Cote, Lietes, Lutter, Irvin, Marquadt and Leben just to name a few. His best win is Hendo but after that it's either Franklin or Forrest. And while Franklin and Forrest are good fighters neither of them are going to go down as all time greats. So I would really like to see him jump up and join the deep waters of LHW.

I slowly went from intense adulation to indifference. Anderson has reigned over the MW division for far too long. Anderson has the size (Oversized for his division - much like GSP) and ability to make the leap to LHW but apparently he is not up to the challenge. The man is now getting old and will no doubt look to retire at MW while moulding his own legacy of utter dominance in his own division, rather than absolute domination.
Anderson Silva will undoubtedly have legendary status but he will always have his detractors due to the reasons you listed.

But fights against Rampage, Shogun, and Evans would be great.

I am on the fence with this. Part of me says if you can be the greatest at 185 then their is no reason to go up. Part of me says go up and test yourself. Either way Anderson is one of, if not, the greatest. I would love to see him fight Shogun.
