I watch boxing, and I see grabbing, punching in the clinch, etc. all the time. The fans there understand that if the ref doesn't break it up, its not illegal. I don't know why MMA fans think fighters shouldn't fight the same way. If the short grab was so bad, the ref should have taken off a point. Even if he did, it would have NO impact on the fights outcome, since Sonnen was stopped a minute later, and it wasn't by short grab.
Munoz getting a title shot makes sense, but his takedowns are not as good as Sonnen's, and he gasses pretty fast. Also, his punching is very sloppy. Nothing I've seen from him makes me think he has much of a chance against Silva.

I think Munoz is going to lose now.

I think if & that is if Munoz can take Anderson down he could give Anderson a few fits due to his strength in Ground & Pound. But from the fight I recalled w/Maia Munoz didn't take him down at will & even attempted to strike & was surprised by Maia & stunned.
Now I completely understand that MMA math is invalid but Maia striking is in no way as lethal as Silva's & being Maia was able to tag him standing I truly believe Silva would pick him apart.
As far as the grease wiping, I am confused why this is an issue w/anyone due to the fact, as it has been stated many times, that Silva does this every single fight...more so the ref wiped Silva off if I'm not mistaken so it had absolutely no impact.
The short grabbing, Sonnen himself states that every fighter INCLUDING Sonnen himself does this so it is not an issue. It did nothing to affect the chain of events that led to Sonnen's backfist attempt & further TKO.
Lastly, yes anyone & everyone has a right on this forum to state their opinion (& anywhere else for that matter), but when an opinion is absolutely contrary to the absolute fact, the videotaped, gifed, pictured, & EVEN stated by the fighter himself FACT, please don't get upset when people state they would prefer not to hear from you (calling an legal knee illegal).
People don't like Silva, wanted Sonnen to be the guy to beat him, but he didn't, twice for that matter. If it is just trolling then cool take it with a grain of salt funny ha ha, but I get the feeling there are people who actually believe the knee was illegal.
This damn knee if the level of dillusion gets worse I'll begin to call it the 9-11 KNEE.

I think the winner of Munoz/Weidman should get the next title shot, unless Boetsch beats Lombard.
Even with a win over Boetsch, I think Lombard is another win away from a shot.
That's what I think. The only thing I know is that my sense of justified titleshots doesn't always sell PPV's and Zuffa is going to do something different. Quote:

Plus, when you factor in that Anderson didn't have to be concerned about chael's striking to any significant degree, and he will need to pay attention to Munoz's hands, it makes setting up a TD a bit easier.
I'm not favoring Munoz, but I give him more of a chance than I would have a week ago.
I actually think the fighter with the best potential to beat Anderson at MW is Weidman, with a bit more experience.

How does the top of the leg not make contact with Chael's chin?

Munoz can Donkey Kong him. While I think Silva will beat him handily, anyone who sleeps on Munoz's chances of winning should reconsider IMO.

IMO, this all depends on how Munoz looks against Weidman. I still have questions about Munoz's cardio if this fight goes deep. Still think he's one fight away from really proving his worth as a #1 contender.
If he wins, I'd like to see him faceoff with winner of Boetsch/Lombard(DO NOT be surprised if Tim wins.)

I've seen Munoz have trouble with Maia and even Kendall Grove striking. I think Silva would take him out standing fairly easily.
EDIT - his GNP is excellent though...
