I really dont care, but when it comes to the integrity of a sport, I do care...
The biggest downside to many of those was that most of cost was out of pocket for those guys and it was costly... I hope the UFC's new policy doesnt include paying for TRT... that would encourage a lot of other fighters to start doing it... many if not the majority who mostlikely dont need it. It would be a problem. Unless the UFC were to monitor it and make their own doctors check the fighters out first... | When did you become so holier than thou?

I'm a major proponent of statistics and patterns and have spent the greater part of five years becoming an expert in the vast areas of social science research methods en route to my MA, as a criminologist, they're my lifeblood. When things go against patterns, red flags go off in my mind and I take a closer look.
When you delve into various diverse theories (just for example, occam's razor/anti-razors, outliers, sabermetrics and the limitless realm of statistical narratives you come across) that study patterns, numbers, anomalies and the like, and apply them to sports and athletics, I've often reached an endgame of great incredulity when it comes to what is legitmate and what doesn't pass my personal sniff test.
FOR ME, I don't believe athletes should become more successful as they reach the twilight of their careers, when by all accounts they should be declining. IMO, when things go against the norm and defy what I would ascribe to be the standard, normative course of actions, I take a step back and look at things with more scrutiny. At this juncture, when an issue like TRT become involved, things start to strike me as hinky and I approach things with an air of caution.
I regard both Hendo and Couture as not 100% "on the level" and that's my personal take. I respect and can appreciate those who disagree with me here, but in my experience, when things sound too good to be true, I recommend a closer inspection and a little more scrutiny....

hmmm Hendo i know but Randy?? did he ever admit to it or is it just because he is an outlier?? wasnt the type of guy who was never out of shape or just under TRT?? thats really hard to think about unless he said he did it...
but i know nothing about the normal person vs athlete levels of testosterone but if an old guy wants to have the test of an average athlete i say thats fine with me... not like crazy athlete in his prime.. just average athlete level of test id be ok with... i just dont know how much that is and the difference between todays accepted level

Captain America, who is out and about promoting his new movie The Expendables 2, spoke with MMA Weigh-In about TRT and basically said he understands why guys do it, but he was always able to find natural alternatives (transcribed by MMA Mania): Quote: |
I chose a little bit different path in trying to find natural ways to boost my own testosterone levels and my body's own production. I used the XCAP program, resveratrol, those natural products that forced my body to produce more, and seeing a doctor that's going to regulate where your levels are. So you know, they designate what the top line is for a natural human being. And unfortunately, if you get carried away with TRT, you're going to cross that line and you're going to come up positive in a test. In our profession, to be banned from making a living for probably a year, and trashing your reputation, it's really not worth it. I just think there are alternative ways of doing things.

They should pan down to the milk-crate he's obviously standing on in the pic. Quote:
