Rampage Jackson doesn't care if he's in the UFC Hall of Fame - MMAmania.com

Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Mark Coleman, Matt Hughes, Dan Severn, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Charles "Mask" Lewis and now Tito Ortiz.

That's some pretty elite company.

It also just so happens to be the nine current members of the UFC Hall of Fame.

While Ortiz was emotional enough to get teary-eyed during his UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony last Saturday, just hours before his final fight of his career, fellow former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson doesn't seem to care about gaining that specific honor.

When asked about the possibility of being a UFC Hall of Famer by FightHubTV.com, the chain-wearing former champ had a very simple response:

If you've paid attention to all the fuss Jackson has been stirring lately as his UFC career draws to a close, this answer probably isn't too surprising.

Jackson caused a fuss to get an opportunity to fight in Japan, putting his foot down and angering some of the UFC brass by being unwilling to compete in the second big UFC on Fox 2 event in Chicago instead.

Then, after putting on a poor performance in a losing effort to Ryan Bader, Jackson announced that he'd tore his knee and had been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) which caused a bit of a media frenzy.

Then of course, there was the ranting and raving and the demanding to be released from the promotion.

Finally, after recovering from knee surgery, Jackson is slated to battle top light heavyweight prospect Glover Texeira in Brazil for his going away party.

Don't worry rampage you won't be. You are behind Hendo, Forrest, Rashad, & Shogun as far as possible hall of famers go, and thats just your weight class. Wandy probably too, the ufc likes him enough to recognize his pride accomplishments.

I hate the UFC hall of fame. It should be the MMA Hall of Fame. Dana White can actually keep people out of the UFC Hall of Fame just cause he thinks they're a douche (Frank Shamrock) when they clearly belong in there.

The UFC Hall of Fame is a sham, but it would be a bigger sham if rampage somehow made it in.

I have to agree, Rampage is self destructing. He's always been a little not quite right, but now it's full blown crazy......I really hope he can get some help and maybe come to a better place in his life. Then again all this noise could be a smoke screen he's trying to use because he doesn't want to admit that he's just gotten old and can't keep up with the new breed of fighters. Maybe it's just easier to go out acting an ass, than admitting that to himself and his fans.....Either way, MMA moves on....

This is something I have thought a lot about to myself. What separates those who should be in the HoF with those who should not? If the criteria is holding a title, then Matt Serra would belong, but a guy like Chris Lytle (most Fight of the Night bonuses in UFC history) is kept out. Point being: does Matt Serra deserve to be a HoFer any more than Lytle?
Is there a past accomplishments (pre-UFC) criteria (for fighters like Cro Cop, Wandy, Henderson)?
I guess I have a hard time quantifying who should or should not go. To tie back into the thread, my heart tells me that Rampage just doesn't belong.
