Default Sonnen talks about going to the WWE and not challenging refs decision

Quote:
Fans of the World Wrestling Federation might jump at the sound of it, but they should not get too excited. Two times middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen has brushed aside rumours of him joining the WWE.

The American Gangster did say that he will visit the WWE venue, but he will go back to his promoter Dana White at the end of the day.

“Well, listen. I tried to go to the WWE. It's in Vegas, on the 16th of this month, but I was leaving Vegas. I'd love to go to WWE. I'd love to get my popcorn. I'd cheer on CM Punk, but I go back to my promoter, Dana White, at the end of the night,” said Sonnen.

Sonnen, who lost to Anderson Silva via TKO at UFC 148, believes his spinning punch did not go well and that was the mere cause of his loss.

“You know, I really wish that I knew and I don't know. Listen, in fairness, had that landed, we'd all be talking about what a wonderful spinning punch it was. It didn't, I fell down like a doofus, and I gotta live with it,” he said.

There were rumours of Sonnen challenging the referee’s decision but he denied it. According to Sonnen, there are always times when a fighter believes he should have won but he has to respect the referee’s decision. Sonnen appreciated Silva for his fighting skills, calling the ‘Spider’ one of the best mixed martial artists out there.

For now, Sonnen is not sure about his future. The American Gangster had spoken of his retiring from the sport if he loses to Silva, and now the time has come. Even his trainer believes he is done at this division, since there is no one left to fight.

Chances are that Sonnen might retire or he might consider moving up in weight. In addition, speculations are suggesting a third match between the two but it is quite unlikely for the upcoming two years. Fans already got enough of Sonnen’s verbal assaults, and since he could not live up to his promises, it is time for him to accept Silva is the better man.
I guess Chael has no interest in the WWE. It appears that he still has interest in the UFC even though he stated he would retire if he was beaten.

Oh did he say that again? I know that he said it once after a fight, while standing in the Octagon, when he was calling out Silva. But then later when asked about it he went on to say that was a one time offer and since Silva didn't except the challenge it no longer stood on the table. So unless he said this again, as I haven't payed much attention to what he's said in a lot of the lead-up to this last fight, he plainly stated he wouldn't retire if he had lost to Silva again.

He is probably more likely to retire than Diaz is to stay retired.

No he only said it once that I am aware of. I forgot that he renigged on his "one time offer" later. Thanks for the reminder.

I'd like to see him fight in some other big fights now. Franklin, Bisping 2, Munoz/Weidman, Lombard, Belcher, Wandy, etc. He would be good in WWE also, but not yet... Unless Dana would let him do both, but that's not happening.
