I know this may sound stupid but man I can't stand when they say former WWE Champion. I'm sorry we all know it's fake. Why not leave it at former WWE actor, maybe athlete. I respect what they do but when their championship is predertemined by suits sitting at a desk and choreographed moves, I don't think it's a championship that you really earn.

Actually they "earn" their championships by doing the right things.
Obviously it is all fake and predetermined, but some of them do a very good job using the mic so they gain popularity and eventually people want to see them become champions and WWE give them that championship.
To have a WWE championship you do not need to be a good wrestler, and John Cena and Batista are extraordinary proofs of that. But you have to be a good actor, you have to make people be interested in your character. No matter if they cheer you or they boo you, if you make your character interesting for people, then eventually you will get a championship.
Or another way is to be a freak of nature or a mountain of roids so your simple aspect will make people interested.

They're decently paid stuntmen.
To me a champ is somebody who physically beat people to get to the top. Not be a good actor. So my thing is when it's mentioned in an article that he was a former champ it sounds like (IM0) that he's a former champ like Tyson, Ali, Hughes etc. As we all know that's not true.
I'm just griping today, I'm in old man mode

Maybe he'll get a few fights under his belt and then eventually go back to the WWE and feud with Brock in some sort of MMA angle.

Some examples of good wrestlers in WWE/WWF:
Chris Benoit

Y2J
Undertaker
CM Punk
Sin Cara
Daniel Bryan
Those are very few examples of good wrestlers of WWE.
But if you want to see a really high level of prowrestling (in terms of technique), watch Japanese wrestling.
