| Vinny Magalhaes Returns With UFC 151 Fight Expected Vinny Magalhaes Returns With UFC 151 Fight Expected Quote:
One of MMA's most dynamic young BJJ standouts is returning to the big leagues, as Tatame is reporting that TUF Season 8 runner-up (and occasional BloodyElbow.com commenter), Vinny Magalhaes, has signed a new contract with the UFC and is expected to take part in the UFC 151 card on September 1st: Quote: |
Vinny "Pezao" Magalhaes is back to the UFC. The light heavyweight, who lost to Ryan Bader on the TUF 8 Finale, signed a contract with the organization and is set to fight at UFC 151, on September 1st, TATAME learned with sources.
| Magalhaes is the reigning M1-Global light heavyweight champion, but a very public dispute with the Russian promotion over his salary and contract led the Brazilian to sever his ties with the organization, and with the matching period M1 enforced for any potential offers from other promotions having just ended a few days ago, Magalhaes quickly signed with the UFC.

A rematch with Ryan Bader seems appropriate. But maybe they should give him Jason Brillz first, somebody that shouldn't be too difficult for him to win against but still a veteran.

The UFC likes to throw champions from other organizations into the deep end to prove their superiority. I know Vinny was on TUF but he is also coming over from M1.. I don't see this return trip to octagon being very beneficial for "Pezao" and I believe he should have went to Bellator.
I bet he gets little Nog or Goose

I think Vinny isn't going to be playing around, he's going to have good striking and find creative ways to get the fight to the mat. "Wrestlers" better respect and fear his bottom game.....

Glad to see this. Vinny comes off very arrogant, and is getting way overrated for beating up on lesser competition. He wilts when he gets hit... I hope they put him against someone who will shut his mouth.

I seriously believe Vinny's about to make a hard run at LHW this time around. His standup has significantly improved, appearing immensely more comfortable on his feet and with his size for LHW coupled with probably the best BJJ at 205, I think he's a tremendously difficult out.
He's been training with the right people since he left the UFC at Xtreme Couture and has really shored up his weaknesses.
A Lil Nog/Pezao fight would be hella fun and IMO, Vinny's wrestling is good enough now, that I think alot of the mid-level LHWs just get taken to school. Bonnar's a good matchup if they'd against Griffin III, ditto Janitor if they want to test where Vinny's at.
