Default Belfort wants Weidman or the winner of Lombard-Boetsch

Belfort waits for UFC Rio 3 confirmation, wants Weidman or the winner of Lombard-Boetsch

Quote:
“Or (Chris) Weidman, or the winner of the Cuban (Hector Lombard) vs. (Tim) Boetsch),” Vitor told TATAME, on his potential opponents.

“I’m waiting for my confirmation on the Rio card, see who’s gonna be my opponent. Nobody send me anything yet. I believe I’ll get an answer on that next week”.

Hector Lombard makes his UFC debut this Saturday, putting his 25-fight undefeated streak on the line.

“He’s good, an Olympic athlete. He’s tough. Let’s wait, on looking forward (his debut),” Belfort said, weighting on Chris Weidman’s knockout win over Mark Muñoz, last week.

“Muñoz has no guard., he’s not a Jiu-Jitsu fighter. That’s a wrestler vs. wrestler matchup, who got to the top position would win. He was tagged, that’s it”.

Belfort guaranteed he’s not worried with Weidman’s game on a potential bout, guaranteeing he has the perfect answer for the American’s takedowns and ground and pound.

“I don’t care what he’s gonna do, I know what I’m gonna do: go for the knockout or the submission”.

Depends who gets the next title shot, which I guess is basically what Vitor is saying.

I agree he should fight whoever doesn't get the title shot between Weirdman and Boetch/Lombard.
Stylistically, I'd like to see Vitor vs Lombard the most.

A fight with Alan Belcher would also be good.

i see Lombard getting shot as long as he wins... the lombard-Silva fight is too marketable not to do it now. Vitor vs Wiedman or Belcher are both good

How is Lombard more marketable then Weidman? Keep in mind we are talking about causal fans who do not know Lombard from Paul Harris.

id say lombard and weidman are both unknown to casual fans. lombards 31-2 record former champion and ko highlights are easier to sell than weidman

Belfort vs. Lombard. On paper this is one of the most exciting fights ufc has to offer IMO.

Then again, i thought that about Belfort - Anderson Silva but it turned out a little differently.

The UFC has no rights to any of his highlights, they are all from Bellator. So they are not allowed to use a single one. The only highlights they could show are from Gono and Mousassi whooped his ass in Pride.

Weidman is undefeated, a class act and has killer highlights that the UFC can actually use.

Alot of guys who come from other promotions are hyped then lose before they can profit from getting a title shot (Hioki, Gomi). Shields came in as strikeforce champ and had problems in what was to be a tune up fight. Eventhough his competition is lesser than in UFC Lombards record speaks for itself. Weidman still needs at least one more win IMO and still ahead of Bisping in the title shot race.
