Not that I am saying I would think the following is appropriate, but considering how Dana White usually reacts I am surprised he isn't upset with Boetsch and Lombard. Both Boetsch and Lombard shit the bed last night, it was really bizarre to watch and it was well outside the norm for both of them, but especially Lombard. Dana must have big plans for Lombard still because usually when a fighter is so well known for being aggressive, going after guys, and they have such an awful fight he goes off on them.

yeah I think he had a good yell at these guys backstage, maybe he's turning over a new leaf and keeping that shit in house rather than out in the media. Notice that Hector Lombard was not at the presser, I think Dana still has big plans for him. This was a really weird fight, to say that Hector was "exposed" is just an over simplification. I'm sure he'll have trouble with elusive fighters, especially Anderson Silva, but his effort last night was beyond lethargic it was really really strange. Closest thing that I'd ever seen to that fight was Kimbo vs Houston Alexander, and even Kimbo did more engaging in that fight. Hector needs a new camp, period. Does anyone know what camp he's with now?

^^ATT I believe. Hector looked terrible and tiny compared to Boetsch. It was an interesting fight but I'm not slamming on either guy at all. It's clear to me that Hector's striking, as I've thought for a while, is not very technical and Boetsch probably showed him something in the very first minute that made Hector think it is not a great idea to run in chin up hooks swinging. I feel bad for Boetsch for taking the flack and I am happy with the decision win. Hector did nothing at all but stand in the middle and I mean stand with his hands up and far in front of him.

I can definitely see the arguments for both sides in scoring points in this fight.

It really is that bad a fight when you analysis the strikes landed to score deciding on the level who performed worse.

Lombard landed a few good over hands strikes on Boetsch that had him pain but Boetsch was already going backwards so Lombard didn't bother to flurry on that shit.

Boetsch's kicks were just point scorers, as its true that the most damage they did were to Boetsch. Lombard was lazy though just leaving his leg out there too though. What an idiot.

Really disappointed with this fight, and especially with Boetsch, who has continued to fumble his way up the ranks.

Hector hurt Boetsch with a body kick and got the only 2 takedowns of the fight and actually landed some hard punches to the face of Boetsch...whereas Boetsch landed hardly anything signifigant (although he landed more). It's not like either guy really deserved to win, though.

Honestly I think both guys lost. For Boetsch my thing is this. He had an opportunity to do what Evander Holyfield did to Mike Tyson. He could shocked the world and would have been in line to fight Anderson Silva next. Was Holyfield a bigger puncher than Tyson? HELL NO. Did he fear Tyson the way Boetsch feared Lombard? HELL NO. He went in and bullied the bully. Took Tyson heart and ruined him as a fighter. Boetsch had so much fear for Lombard's power that he didn't believe enough in his own skills. He wanted to skate by and just do "enough" to win. He missed a real opportunity and it shows what his future holds in the MW division. Say hello to the new gatekeeper. Now before some of you start....I'm not saying that he shouldn't have been careful, but there's a difference between being defensively responsible and what Boetsch did last night. But of course it's Lombard's job to do something about it, so it was a missed opportunity there as well. I honestly think Lombard could have waded in and taken Boetsch out, he just gave him way too much respect.

As far as the leg kicks go they looked good in the first round. I believe he even dropped hector to one knee with one. Breaking your foot would destroy your ability to land effective kicks of any kind.

Hector has legit skills that will never be shown as long as he is fighting guys that make him look like a midget.

Personally thought Hector won, but it was close either way. Not a good performance by either guy. If he can make 170 with ease and not lose any of his power or explosiveness, why not. His TDD and wrestling seem to be there. He could give a ton of guys fits there. He needs to change his style of just standing there flat footed waiting to counter though...
