| Nothing decided yet, but UFC boss says Chris Weidman currently closest to title shot Nothing decided yet, but UFC boss says Chris Weidman currently closest to title shot Quote:
"If I had to right now say we have to make a fight right now because Anderson wants to fight in two months, I'd do the Weidman fight," White told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) following Saturday's post-event news conference. "I haven't talked to (Anderson) yet. He does want to fight. He's ready to go again. But I haven't talk to him yet."
UFC 149 took place at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. It was the UFC's first visit to Canada's fourth-largest city. The event's main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.
White said he believes Silva is likely to fight again before the end of 2012 or just after the start of 2013. And while he acknowledged other middleweights , such as Michael Bisping, are in the running, Weidman's recent brutal second-round knockout of Mark Munoz could have White interested.
"An impressive win's going to give somebody a title shot," White said. "I'm looking for a guy who goes out and performs like Weidman. You go in and you're ranked low in the Top 10 and you take out No. 2 or 3 the way you did – that's what I'm excited about."
White said a few key fights in the division will be figured out in the coming days – and just because Lombard was knocked off after coming in as a highly touted signing doesn't mean all is lost. Far from it – though White also has to deal with an apparently broken foot for Boetsch.
"This doesn't make the 185-pound division any less exciting right now," White said. "But (Boetsch) has a broken foot, Lombard lost. I had fights made with the winner of this one either way, and now we've got to regroup. Because of course, one guy loses and the other guy's injured."

I'd have to agree at this point. Munoz blew it. Bisping is fighting Stann, Belcher needs one more. Boetsch wasn't impressive enough.
That leaves Weidman, who just came off an impressive performance. I think Weidman is more dangerous than any of those guys anyway.

Weidman is the most deserving right now, but I really want him to take another fight before he goes for the title.

I really wish Hector would have tried harder to win last night, he fought like a total dumbass the whole fight. I wanted to see silva face a striker next, I'm not a fan of Striker vs Grappler matches.

I agree with everything you said except the last sentence. Striker vs Grappler matches can be awesome. Watch aoki vs that k1 guy in the mixed rules match from the dream new years eve show a couple of years ago if you want to see an awesome striker vs grappler match.

If Anderson wants to fight again in 2 months, I say make it happen Dana.

They often tend to be very boring matches where the wrestler either spends all his time Tryin to push the opponent against the cage due to failed takedowns or the just strow weak punches from guard with no attempts to really pass guard. Meanwhile the striker is incrediably gunshy because he is too afraid of being taken down to take a risk. I don't mind Jujitsu guys vs strikers because atleast they make attempts to finish if the fight gets to the ground, and their wrestling typically isn't all that threatening so the striker is able to take some risks with his strikes.
