The advantage in rematches(on paper) should deffinetly go to Edgar.

Lol dude EVERYbody Edgar fights has a size and strength advantage over him. Doesnt seem to bother him too much being 14-2.

One lost was due to being smaller and not as strong(Maynard 1), but its safe to say Frankie>Gray right now. And the other was a close fight that he hasnt got a chance to rematch yet.

Given his track record, and looking at everything from both fighters, I say this fight goes Frankies way. Im hoping Xtremo gives me a chance to rematch the epic sig/name/av bet we had

The fact that Sherdog gave it to Edgar should be a good indication that he lost the fight.

Yeah, Ben seemed more concerned about his hair than anything Frankie had to throw at him in the first fight.....Sorry but Frankie got fucked up in that fight and couldn't put a scratch on his opponent. not one mark......it's not like he gotten a ton of take downs or anything like that, he just got flat out beat.

I thought the first fight was close, but Henderson eked it out. There were a couple of points from the first fight that to me at least seemed significant.

The upkick - Edgar was looking good up until then but the kick and resulting damage gave Bendo that round. I expect Edgar to be wary of it in the rematch if the fight goes to the ground.

Edgar relinquishing back control - several times in the first fight Edgar locked Bendo's back up standing. Each time Bendo went for a kimura. Edgar let him go. If Edgar gets back control standing again I'd expect him not to be so passive in that position.

Catching body kicks - Edgar seemed to be expecting the high volume of kicks that came his way but his tactic of eating them, grabbing the leg and either going for a single leg or trying to throw a right hand was ineffective against Bendo due to his TDD and the length of his torso. Bendo also leans back quite noticeable when he throws kicks and is head was simply out of Edgar's punching range. I'd expect Edgar to use more movement to avoid kicks this time round.

I'm a fan of Frankie, and always love it when two cerebral fighters are matched up. However, given that Bendo's size and power are significant advantages, and Frankie's speed edge is negligible, I expect the same outcome for the rematch (the fight itself may look different though.)

I think many of the people that scored the fight for Edgar did so based on erroneously scoring these exchanges for Edgar. As you mentioned, when he caught those kicks, he was not stepping off to the side, so he was eating the full impact of the body kicks. Catching the kick looks nice and all (and to his credit takes good timing), but it doesn't mean anything unless he can follow through with a TD or respond with his own strike, which he never did.

Agreed - as an Edgar fan I was guilty of doing this at the time, but watching it slowed down I couldn't rationally argue that Edgar wasn't taking clean shots.

How do you see the rematch going Swift? What adjustments do you think both fighters will make? This fight illustrates why I love rematches: the games within games, the difficulty of replicating the areas you were successful in while trying to negate your opponents strengths, all the while knowing your opponent is going through the same process.
