Edgar recently opened up on the tilt in an extended preview for the August 11 show where he explained he’s approaching things as he would any other fight regardless of how much is on the line.

“A fight’s a fight. Whether there’s a belt involved or not, you still have to prepare; you still have to prepare for your opponent and you still have to get in there and apply everything you’ve trained,” said Edgar in the clip.

“The fight was close, it was controversial, and now it’s my turn to get a rematch,” he continued, adding his expectations of an outcome different from those in his previous pairings with Penn/Maynard where he retained his title. “Ben Henderson will not defend the belt because the belt belongs to me.”

Technically it's still a title defense, Edgar, because as of right now that belt is his. It will continue to be his after he finishes you in the rematch.

I would argue that he clearly lost and doesn't deserve an immediate rematch. But the fight is in my hometown so I'll go watch it anyway. I would have much rather seen Bendo fight someone else live though. I would consider skipping this event or going to a bar or streaming it over paying for it on ppv.

I like Ben, and see him as the better fighter that has more to offer with his all around game... but Frankie and his camp are masters of game-planning... I will predict him to win the rematch, using his typical point fighting... But ill be pulling for Ben..

that's what i was thinking aswel. “Ben Henderson will not defend the belt because the belt belongs to me.” that statement right there sounds like something coming out of chaels mouth.
i use to hate him for beating bj penn TWICE but since the second maynard fight where he showed his heart and determination to keep going, i always root for him.
i will be rooting for him again but i see the fight going similar to the first fight or wouldn't be surprised if bendo finishes him this time.
