I like this match up... 170 has a lot of good wrestlers in it... It will be a big test to Erik's wrestling and be a good step up in competition....
Id hate to see Fitch win, another boring fight... but lets see how Silva can handle it.

I think Silva's fight with Brenneman is pretty telling; him and Fitch have almost the same style just that Fitch is more refined as a fighter. I don't see Fitch winning this fight, but also I don't think it's DW doing a disservice to Fitch. If Fitch wins this fight, he instantly becomes relevant again when a lot of fans are starting to question whether he's still a top contender. If he beat up some can, it wouldn't do anything for his career, it would just be a pay check.

it's not vindictive to fitch. they want to keep the fans happy and thus want to keep fitch in there with other non-wrestlers, guys who can add some danger off the ground. of those, the biggest names like condit, kampmann, penn are already booked and so silva is actually one of the more hyped fighters in the category.
everyone is already talking about rory, killer, and silva being the future of the division. fitch and penn get the opportunity to prove them wrong. somehow that gets read as penn is taking a great fight and fitch is getting shit on?

So with Kampann/Hendricks winner getting next shot I would think that the winner of Silva/Fitch and Penn/Macdonald will be fighting each other.
Hopefully I get to see Rory fight Silva sooner rather than later.

And I don't think you can say One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) is a better movie than Animal House (1978); they're different genres. I think they're both examples of great craftsmanship.

Man I would love to see Silva vs Condit, or Sanchez.

I got Fitch for this one. He'll be hurting bad after his KO loss and I expect him to come out and grind Silva down. Silva does look to have exemplary take down defense but I don't think there's anyone at 170 who is as tenacious as Fitch when it comes to the takedown. It won't make for explosive viewing but it will be effective.
That hinges on Fitch suviving the initial onslaught - if so I expect him to test Silvas cardio in the clinch, get some takedowns and land just enough g'n'p to get the win.
