I think they'll look to make T.Silva vs. Shogun next as originally intended | Quote:

Also, putting Shogun against T.Silva was a bad move before and an even worse move now. There is no point putting Shogun against two non-top 15's back to back especially given T. Silva is coming off a loss and is 1-3-1 in his last 5 fights. Lose-lose again for Shogun. Quote:

I was very surprised wit how many clean shots Vera took. Varner, on the other hand, was not gassed! To me, he was bouncing around a lot when the fight began but then got much more comfortable when he settled in his range. That was not a sign of fatigue. On a side note, I love Varner's combos which included body shots.
| I believe the opposite Rogan was on top of his game during some nights of the fight but it is quite obvious that he is prone to his own personal views of a fight, which is what a commentator does. He does make mistakes but please name a better color commentator for the sport. Someone that has enough MMA, BJJ and Striking knowledge as he.
I see people make this bullshit argument all the time but you cannot name anyone who could do a better job under the pressure of the situation. Quote: |
[3] Machida did look more impressive against a higher ranked opponent. Shogun had his moments when he was eating a few combos and the time when he was put on his back. That made me think that Jones would've capitalized on those moments much more, ala when they fought in March of last year. Machida, on the other hand, was the hammer the whole fight and Bader was the nail. Although I don't think any guy "deserves" the shot with what they have done thus far, Jones or Henderson will need an opponent, and right now the leader of that pack is Machida. Plus, stylistically Machida is a tougher test (as we saw) than Shogun (largely due to Shogun's non-existant TDD).
| Lyoto did indeed prove himself to be a better contender for Jones than Shogun did tonight. Vera put up a struggle that was not lacking in heart tonight. Skill won over heart tonight in the main event, that's for sure. Quote: |
[4] If Glover beats Rampage, I call Glover/Shogun, unless they decide to sign Gustafsson/Shogun. Both fights excite me. I would personally do Shogun vs Glover and Gustafsson vs Evans (if the MW rumours are not true).
| Glover or Gustaffson would be a great matchup against Shogun. Something that would have finally come to fruition for both of their hard work.

IDK, for some reason tonight struck me as a losing night for Shogun despite pulling the win, must've blurred my perspective....
That said, I honestly fear that Shogun's going to be a product of the "too many wars" syndrome and the wear feels like it's starting to really show. Considering that he hasn't strung together two straight wins in quite some time(factoring in the Machida decision loss), I'm not too sure if it is a good investment. Shogun's camp already turned down a proposed Glover fight, I don't know if they'd care to roll the dice against him....

I feel its best that we just all ignore him, i feel no need to make any more retorts. I mean, he said Jones wrestling isn't special because he struggled to take down Rampage......that doesn't warrant a response.

Also sniggles out of random curiosity what did your old name used to be? I was trying to remember it but I forgot | Degenero was my old forum name.
Quite a few have messaged me after I went after his shit several times. I am not compelled at all to name names and should not have to. It is quite obvious that Return makes emotional and nonsensical arguments.... most of which end up in name calling because he cannot win by way of pushing the argument in question. Quote:

| My bad about the 3 straight comment. I think it had to do with Machida getting "the nod" over him, but I didn't see tonight as Shogun's shining moment...
I purposed T. Silva over Teixeira because I don't know how much Shogun really has left in the tank to go against somebody of Glover's ilk and I fear that a matchup against Glover ends very badly for Shogun. You're right, T.Silva isn't as highly ranked, but I think he's an easier fight for Shogun and if they're not giving him Machida III, I don't like how he matches up to alot of LHWs at the moment. Putting Shogun in a main/co-main against T.Silva gives ZUFFA another Shogun fight that guarantees fireworks, but prolongs their investment in him. IMO, Rashad and T.Silva are the two that interest me most, since Lil Nog's stock has decreased quite a bit and Rampage has a foot out the door.
I just have alot of concern over how much more Shogun can take.

What a great night of fights. War us fans. Hell yeah. First time I have been on the internet b/c I was behind on time. Glad Quick Swick won. Also thought Machida looked bad ass. Shogun was in a war against vera. Lauzon vs Varner was great.
I leave drunk and happy.
