| GSP's Trainer Says Fighter Want Bout With Anderson Silva GSP's Trainer Says Fighter Want Bout With Anderson Silva Quote:
Firas Zahabi, the head trainer for UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, says his fighter wants a future bout with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Zahabi, however, added that GSP knows he needs to take care of business in regards to facing Carlos Condit first.
St-Pierre and Condit are expected to square off this November to unify the UFC welterweight title. Zahabi appeared on The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo recently.
"Georges St-Pierre told me he wants (to fight Silva). But right now, he has to get back on the horse and fight Carlos Condit and be champion again," Zahabi said (thanks to The Score for transcribing). "He needs to keep focused. (If facing Silva) ideally I'd like a catch-weight. I think it'd be more fair. If you fight a catch-weight, Silva won't be 20 pounds heavier."
Silva's management team has said as of late that a fight with GSP is the only one that makes sense. It appears that St-Pierre is on board with the idea, too.

I'd watch the fight and I'd root for GSP all the way. I think GSP is a more rounded fighter but I think he'd get smashed by Silva. Silva is just too big and thus it would be hard for GSP to take him down.

GSP will never fight anderson for a few reasons:
Doesnt want to get destroyed and embarassed by anderson
Doesnt want to tarnish his legacy with a loss to anderson
GSP will not fight anyone in which he does not have a huge advantage or equal to for that matter.
He will not be able to jab his way to a victory over anderson nor will he be able to LNP his way to a victory over anderson. he would get finished by anderson mid-late first or very early 2nd round
i mean when have we seen GSP fight someone who was legitemately better than him since the first hughes fight? (the serra fight was a fluke and he proved it)
im not meaning to bash him GSP but i just dont see how GSP really has any chance in this fight, even if he was 20 pounds heavier than anderson.

If we saw GSP fight someone better than him than why would we be talking about a super fight with Anderson? Cause obviously if the guy was better GSP wouldnt be champ. Champs arent ranked #2 in their own division. He is ranked in most peoples books #2 p4p. We have watched him fight guys better in certain areas. Kos is a better wrestler, Shields is a better grappler and Thiago Alves is a better striker.
Imo Silva's size advantage is not going to improve his wrestling and he will spend five rounds on his back. And unlike Chael GSP has submission defence and most likely will not sit in Andersons guard hoping he doesnt get triangled. He wont have to jab Anderson to death he will be able to brutalize him with elbows and what ever else he wants to throw from side guard and mount. Do I think GSP will stop Silva? Fuck no. I would lose my shit if that happened. But I still think he would dominate him like he does every other fighter he faces.

i wasn't interested in this fight becuase up until now it was just silva and his management always talking about wanting to fight gsp. but now that gsp himself wants to fight silva in the near future (that is if he wins against condit), why not make this fight around this time next year? it's not like silva's getting young, so if gsp does want to fight silva than it needs to happen asap.

So how long until Ed Soares comes out and says GSP is not a credible opponent and Silva would rather face Matt Hughes?
I say about 24 hours.

But also "unlike Chael" as you said, GSP's wrestling game is very different to Sonnens. GSP has the best Shot in the game, but he doesnt just blitz and rush his opponent to get his takedowns. He likes to set them up with his striking to get them... Which is like playing with fire when it comes to Anderson. Also not many people can throw caution to the wind like Sonnen and rush in, because they may not be that durable and could get KO'd in the process... Chael gets hit a lot when he comes in, with big shots. He is just able to take them... Even in the Bisping and Stann fight he gets hit with some shots when coming in to get his takedown.
It would be an interesting fight. Quote:

GSP isn't saying he wants a fight with Anderson anytime soon but in the future, he not only has to defeat Condit but also has Diaz waiting in the wings. Anderson should be more concerned with knocking out as many people as quickly as possible instead of dragging his feet trying to get the perfect fight. Don't think Weidman is deserving? Prove it.
