| UFC champ Henderson: Onus on Pettis to book rematch, but Cerrone calls dibs UFC champ Henderson: Onus on Pettis to book rematch, but Cerrone calls dibs Quote:
"At some point in time, Anthony Pettis and I will dance in the cage again," Henderson said. "Before he retires, before I retire, we will dance in the cage again.
"That being said, it's on him. It's his job to get to the belt level. It's not my job to wait for him or open the doors for him. He's great. He's a great fighter. I take my hat off to him. I'm a big fan of his. But it's not up to me to say, 'This guy's next. He's next.' My job it to beat whoever they put in front of me."
In fact, another WEC vet, Donald Cerrone (18-4 MMA, 5-1 UFC), answered before Henderson did and said he's already got dibs on Pettis. Cerrone, who meets fellow lightweight and former training partner Melvin Guilllard (47-11-3 MMA, 11-6 UFC) in UFC 150's co-headliner, has publicly campaign for a Pettis fight. Perhaps surprisingly, their paths never crossed in the WEC.
As MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) reported this past week, Cerrone has been annoyed he hasn't already gotten the fight.
"I've been trying to fight Anthony for a while now, and every time I suggest it, his manager comes back and says, 'Well, maybe Cowboy could fight somebody else right now,' and it's just this excuse to not fight," said Cerrone, who didn't get that fight at UFC 150 because of a Pettis injury.
For his part, Pettis' manager, Mike Roberts, said they're open to the bout.
"He's definitely not running from 'Cowboy,'" Roberts said. "Anthony is running for whoever has got the belt, and unfortunately for 'Cowboy,' it's never been him. But having said that, if 'Cowboy' wins his fight, and (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva tells us beating him is going to get us a title shot, Anthony would gladly accept that fight."

I like it. Both of those fights. Bendo good for you however if you lose your title you should be vying for a fight with Pettis strongly especially after this interview.

| Aaaaah, Ricky Bobby! Now we shall dance. And yes, it will be a slow jam.
This just popped in my head when i read the article haha. Back to the subject at hand, Pettis v Cerrone and Pettis v Henderson hopefully will happen in 2013, 2 awesome fights that I think Pettis should win.

honestly, wrestling stephens and then a short fight against joe still leaves me with a lot of questions about pettis in the ufc. not taking anything away from his fight with jlau, but the shorter the fight the harder it is to say that those skills will translate in the future.

If Nate has "next dibs", I think Cerrone/Pettis in a five rounder for the #1 contendership would be amazing and would definately be in line for FOTY candidacy.
I do fear that they match-up Pettis and Maynard.

Apparently, Cerrone has already beaten Guillard. Hope Melvin got the memo.
