| Jake Shields vs Yushin Okami 2? It wouldn't surprise coach Cesar Gracie Jake Shields vs Yushin Okami 2? It wouldn't surprise coach Cesar Gracie Quote:
Gracie talks to Sherdog's Beatdown Radio about the future of his American Jiu-Jitsu (AJJ) fighter and why a rematch against fellow middleweight Yushin Okami would not surprise him. Quote: |
"I think people have seen some really great fights of Jake’s where he’s tapped people out with one-arm guillotines and stuff from the mount and all these other things he’s done, armlocks and everything, and I think for Jake, he needs to really get back into that, to finishing. We’re not going to change a tiger at this point in the game. We have to [say], ‘Look, Jake. This is what got you here. It’s finishing people. You’re a world-class grappler. Let’s focus on finishing.’ There’s so many great 185-pounders. Jake has already fought Okami. Jake beat Okami. Hopefully they’re going to give him somebody else, is what I’m hoping for, but like I said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did want that matchup."

It would be a good and close fight.
Shields is not a very exciting fighter imo, but he is getting overlooked in the MW picture. He beats just about everyone at MW besides a few guys.

I agree this fight would be both good and close. I want to see it. Okami has advanced as a fighter.

I'd love to see this rematch. Let's see how Shields does when he doesn't have to fight Carlos Condit in the same night haha
Okami takes this ones

If Okami can avoid the takedown he is going to win by decision. Jake Shields has a horrible stand up game.

Okami takes this ones | Yes, they should have matched Condit up with Silva. that would have been a good standup fight.

Good, I'm glad Jake Shields is still in the UFC because it saves me of having to buy sleep aid the night he fights
