Wow! The topic certainly has garnered a ton of response. I dont often give my two cents often but here it goes. First, if Jones is so interested in money I think he would be more inclined to pursue the Anderson Silva superfight that many of us would most like to see. I could see that as being a monumental money maker. Then there is the issue of Machida. Who else is there in the weight class that makes any more sense? Many say Gustaffon but he needs to get through Shogun, who will establish where Gustaffon really ranks in the mix. I also think that many have not considered what a gamble that Machida is taking here considering if falls in duplicate fashion as the first Jones fight, then he and the UFC will have a difficult time in selling a third fight with Jones if Jones sticks around at LHW. He might as well follow Rashad to MW or be a content gate keeper at LHW. I also think many are sleeping on Machida and giving him no chance on redemption from the first fight and act as if they aren't interested in seeing it. I for one, am inclined to see it. I wouldn't give Machida any where close to close to a 50/50 chance, but wouldn't be utterly shocked if he pulled out a five round decision using tactics like the first round in the last fight.

It's kind of sad Jones dont want the Lyoto rematch because I feel Lyoto is the only one who wants another crack at Jones where as the rest of the fighters JJ has fought are content being 2nd best.

Jones knows that Machida has been his toughest test to date and I think he does not want at all to fight Lyoto again. The money stuff is just an excuse he is making.

He won that fight but Machida has been the only one to win a round against Jones, and because of his style, he is very very dangerous.
I hope Hendo H-bombs Jones, everyone will be happy then. Even Jones himself will be happy, he will not have to fight Machida.

I think Jones is beginning to act like Anderson in the sense of "I don't want this fight, this fighter does not deserve a rematch, No no I do not want to fight him either" etc etc
The difference is that Anderson has been champion for 6 or 7 years, he is consideres to be the Greatest MMA fighter ever, he is 37 years old, so we can say that he has kinda earned the right to decline some fights if he does not like the conditions.
Jones is only 24 years old, he still has a lot of things to do before he earns the right to act in that way.

The ball is in Anderson's court. Anderson would be the one that has to move up. Seems to me that Zuffa doesn't want to ruin both fighters' legacy until Anderson is at the point of retiring and the fight would be more of a passing of the torch than a competitive match IF it even took place, that is.

Jones: It feels funny fighting a guy his age - Mixed Martial Arts News
Quote:
es, Jones can appreciate Hendo's resume and longevity. Yes, he has respect for his crushing power. But Jones also feels like the murderer's row of opponents he's faced in his last four fights -- former UFC champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Lyoto Machida, Jackson and Evans -- has prepared him for everything he will see from Henderson at UFC 151.

In fact, ask him if Henderson offers anything he's yet to experience, Jones doesn't require even a moment of thought.

"No," he said. "I feel as if he’s an older, slower version of Rashad Evans."

...He said, that's only one of many pieces of motivation pushing him forward. Among the others is one that is a bit surprising. Namely, Henderson's testosterone replacement therapy usage, which he says, actually benefits him.

How?

"It feels funny fighting a guy his age," he said. "To know that he has some advantages helps me train harder and not to think anything about having mercy on him."

I don't want a rematch either but mainly because he destroyed Machida already. Please Dan just blast this motherfucker and we can watch Machida/Hendo which would be fun.
